Saw this suv near my house ,think its ssangyong rexton ,sorry phone camera picture ,tried to take front pic but driver zoomed off and then to my surprise two more of these covered badge suvs started honking for way.All had MH registration.

Welcome to The Automotive India. Thanks for sharing the exclusive scoop pictures of the Rexton.
Rexton is slated for indian launch in 4th quarter this year. It will be powered by 2.7L turbo diesel engine which churns out max. power of 183hp, no wonder why the driver zoomed off so easily.

With 2 SUV's this year from Ssang Yong stable and one of their own, how will Mahindra differentiate between them and are these 2 SUv's gonna be CBU/CKD or will be completely built here?

In safdarjung enclave on rajinder da dhaba road its residential area,can't understand what were they trying to test here ???? maybe parking in a tight spot.

The SsangYong Rexton, a very proper 4x4(all wheel drive) finds itself favorably priced in the UK. In fact, you would be reminded of the pricing for a compact soft roader. The latest SsangYong Rexton is likely to get the attention of those who prefer a great 4x4 for the family. With great equipment levels, the SsangYong Rexton could change Market dynamics for Mahindra & Mahindra.
Similar in size to the Toyota Land Cruiser, one wouldn’t be cramped for space, and its off-roading ability, traction control, and ground clearance can’t go unmentioned. Plenty of space in the interiors gives the SsangYong Rexton a very roomy feel.
Putting the SsangYong Rexton in perspective, it wouldn’t cost a bomb in the UK car market keeping in mind size, and towing capacity. However, the SsangYong Rexton that M&M plans to bring to India will be launched by the end of the 2011 fiscal, which puts the vehicle at least 7-8 months away. Mahindra and Mahindra will also be bringing the Korando-C SUV to India, and both would be received as completely knocked down (CKD) units to be assembled at the M&M Chakan facility, near Pune(MH).
The SsangYong Rexton SUV will not debut as a premium product in the UK auto market but its dynamics change in India where the premium SUV will be pitted against The Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Outlander, Ford Endeavour and Honda CRV. A five speed automatic gearbox is expected, and the SsangYong Rexton SUV for the Indian auto market will be powered by a 2.7 liter five-cylinder turbo-diesel motor that records 162bhp.

First they call it a 4X4, then a soft roader.
First they call it compact, and then they say it has the same dimensions as a Land Cruiser

Why cant they make up their mind.

This should be great if they can manage to price it in the range of 20-22Lakhs. But brand value is the big question here!
