Small Query About Head Unit (50 X 4)

Almost every HU in the market today is 50 X 4. I want to know what is this 50X4, is it RMS or Watts. (By the way i don't know what is RMS or Watt is). just want to match the values with the speakers.

Secondly, Is there any HU with more than 50 i.e. 60X4, 70X4, 80X4? If yes, then please tell me the model no. and price.

Hey sunny,

50x4 is the RMS of the HU. It is measured in watts only. the peak power will be in higher numbers.

AFAIK the maximum capacity of the HU is 55 or 60 watts X 4 channels only.

If you for the amplifiers they may go up to 1000watts( 250x4)

There are no such HU comes with 70x4, 80x4 or so.

Thanks for such a quick reply.

Sometime ago i saw some boss HU on amazon. It had 80X4. But i don't know about the reliability of the brand. May be it was duplicate of BOSE. They can print anything on duplicates.

Anyway can you tell me the model no. and price of 55X4 and 60X4 HU.

I dont think companies provide HU's with more than 60 watts X 4 o/p. Any HU would require a lot of power supply circuitry to achieve such an o/p, which is not possible to fit in the size specs available.
Although I must say I haven't come across units with more than 50 X 4 rating. You need to hook on to net to get some more info or find a audio guru

50x4 or 52x4 is pmpo (peak power) rating not the RMS.
RMS of any HU is approx 12-15 x4 watt.

one more question guys : What is MOSFET? Is it something like rms or watts.
