Hello everyone,

My Octavia has Goodyear NCT 195 65 r 15 , 2 of the tyres are completely worn out.

So what should i do now. I want to increase the width to 205 and change the brand too. But is it worth doing?

Options available.

->change 2 tyres (stock size)
-> change all four to 205 65(more ground clearance )
-> change all four to 205 60(better performance but less clearance)
-> change rims to 16 and put on 205 65 (its costly , but both performance and clearance)
-> Brand: Michelin , bridgestone or yokohama?

I need your suggestions

Re: Octavia needs a Tyre change

The 195 tyres are sufficient for the Octy and provide enough grip. I dont recommend you going for R16 ones as they will affect the ride quality considering our roads. Go for the 195 R15 tyres again. Michelin would be better.

Re: Octavia needs a Tyre change

205 60 R15 without any change to the wheel rims would be the best upgrade in my opinion. It would not be worth an upgrade to R16 wheel rims, as the suspension & steering dynamics would not support + clearance issues. Brand- Michelin, Continental, Goodyear- all are equally good

Re: Octavia needs a Tyre change

Hey buddy first go through this Tyre size calculator and choose a wise section which does not have any impact on the speedo readings. Here is the link:Tire size calculator

If you have the budget i would say change all four tyres and then follow tyre rotation every 10k KMS atleast so that you don't face this issue in the future.

Brand , avoid Bridgestone they are a bit noisy at high speeds. Michelin's are the best comfort tyres. If you are slightly inclined towards performance then look at Pirelli or Falken too.

Re: Octavia needs a Tyre change

@dhaya, thanks for your calculator. Im not sire about the tyre change. should i change just the two balded ones, or change all four. the other two are in excellent condition . Can i put different brand in the new tyres? with the old Goodyear NCT5 ??
Or im planning 215 60 R 15 , for all four tyres.

Re: Octavia Needs a Tyre Change

Thanks dodge
Actually my idea was to put Bridgestone Ponteza g3 (directional) so its more grippy than normal GY nct5 , so i thought of putting it up in the front , i though it would handle the turns better. Any idea on this?

Re: Octavia Needs a Tyre Change

If the other two are in excellent condition then change only the other two balded tyres. No problem in having different brands of tyres at the front and back. Potenza's are good but are a bit noisy. Try Yokohama S drive have heard good reviews about them.

Re: Octavia Needs a Tyre Change

Atlast changed my tyres. To bridgestone ER300 asymmetric ,designed for wet and dry(it has different pattern in two sides). I consulted with a mechanic (my friend) and the tyre dealer. They both recommended this model for good life and suitable for indian roads , and due to the fact that my older tyres were GY nct5. I was aware of the noise issue, but this one is not bad(after using goodyear NCT5). Got it done for 10.6k with alignment and rim cleaning. Here goes some pics.

Will tell about the noise and stuffs after driving for 1k kms.

Re: Octavia Needs a Tyre Change

Congrats Jeno Bridgestone because of their hard compound they generally last longer than its competitors.

205/60 R15 should be the right upgrade. Better avoid 205/65 R15.
And regarding the price, let me check what we paid for our Civic and update you soon.
