Its a 2005 model car. For the past 6 years it has been used in Bangalore.(NCR) But its RHS and LHS running boards have been corroded. Now can we touch it up and apply anti rust coat or do we need to change the piece? Its really shocking. Do Hyundai car rusts? If we change the piece means they say that it will cost more than 10000.

We are totally confused whether to give a touch up or to change the piece. Which is better?

Re: Accent Rusts!!!

Check with an tinker\painter, if the part is rusted from inside its better to change the piece as the strength of that will be very less, if not get it tinkered and get it filled up by putty and get it repainted..

Re: Accent Rusts!!!

You should get this fixed as soon as possible if the corrosion is limited to what we apparently see in the picture. It is also advisable to get the under body anti-rust treatment done on the car.

Re: Accent Rusts!!!

Please check whether any leakages is there which is major reason for rust probably water dripping in to running board during washing or rain.

i think this happen because somewhere car got hit in that area and you didn't care of repainting that area which now you see rust .

get anti rust treatment and get that area fixed no need to replace if rust is you mentioned just what i see in pic

Hi friends
Thank you for all of your valuable replies. There are some main reasons for this rusting issue.

First, the quality of the sheet metal for running boards are of poor quality. Secondly, when giving the car for water service, mostly they use hard water and it has no adequate drain holes for the water. It gets clogged inside and accelerates corrosion. At present scrap off the rusted portion and apply anti rust coat with paint. Thank you all again.
