Hello guys i am planning to have a trip to Goa.
Which route is better.
Bangalore - Goa or Bangalore-Mangalore - Goa.
Mostly i may go via Mangalore.
But would like to know road conditions in both directions.

And any fellow TAI'ns from Mangalore please update the road conditions.

Nobody from Mangalore here.

When are you planning? One of my friend went Goa 2 month back, I will get the details from him next week. But i think he might not have gone via Mangalore.

Well probably on the 1st week coming month.
Well thanks for your reply.
I have gone upto Murdeshwar via Mangalore.
That was a year back but now the rains might have worsened the conditions of road.

Well goa is known for beaches.
But we usually visit atleast once in a year.
As our home god is in Ponda , Just before Margao.
After visiting there & performing rituals then visiting beaches.
All these years we used to go by train & bus.
But this time on Hawk.[:)]

Anyways, you missed the point.
How are the road conditions.
You seem to be the best person as you go there every year.

Well AMG , I have already visited all the beaches.
Calangute etc....

I have gone upto Murdeshwar on my Hawk.
But had never gone to Goa .
All these years it was by bus or train.
Well by bus the roads were literally not there.
The roads were pretty bad a few months back, As Rainy season approaches the roads are maintained well.
So with best hopes i am going there.
The route i will go is Bangalore-Mysore-Madikeri(Mercara-Coorg),Bantwal(My home town)-Mangalore-Udupi-Karkala-Gokarna-Karwar-(Goa)Ponda-Madgaon-Vasco.
Till know i had never visited Vasco.
But this time my hawk will do it for me.

Well during my visit to Shirdi .
I was never stopped & asked for any details by RTO.
But i have heard that while in Goa they strictly check for documents.
Will i need to carry my original RC book??

I would prefer GQ over Bangalore -Mangalore - Panaji

GQ - Bangalore - pune highway NH4

Route - Bangalore - Tumkur - Sera - Chitradurga - Davengere (bypass) harihar - Ranebennur - Haveri (very good road few diversions after chitradurga and have to pass through ranebennur city)

Take Sirsi road from Haveri,

Haveri - Sirsi - Mangalore Panaji Highway (20 kms from kumta) - Ankola - KArwar - Goa Border
(good road, not a 4 lane highway, I would say a decent new road)
very scenic after Sirsi (ghat section)

I do upto Karwar in 8-9 hrs
Karwar to panaji is another 2.5 hrs

Alternate route is Bangalore - Tumkur - Arsekere - Kadur - Berur - Shimogga - Bhadravati - Sagar - Jog falls - Kumta - Ankola - Karwar - Goa.
(i would not prefer as lot of villages on the way, a 2 lane highway with bullock carts and tractors)

Bangalore - Mangalore - Panaji - is a very long travel, I would suggest dont go through this route

safe driving, njoy maadi

even I go to goa couple of times in a year to visit our temple in Revana.

The route I usually take is through Hubli (My parents stay in this city).

Bangalore - Hubli (7hr drive) GQ
Dont enter hubli city, take the bypass road after the toll gate, [ask the person which left turn 1st or 2nd iam not sure] turn left towards Karwar. This will take you through
Kalgatagi - Yellapur - Karwar (172kms - 2.5 hrs) - Goa

Since the mines trucks are off road this will be the best route. instead of going through Haveri - Sirsi - Ankola route

Thank you srinivas.
But there are relatives in Mysore, which can't be avoided.
As well as my home town mangalore i have to go to pick my Grandparents.
And i recently got an update that Mangalore-Udupi-Kundapur-Bhatkal-Ankola- upto Goa road is in superb condition.
