During every major fuel price hike for many years commuters are violating the traffic rules in order to save fuel like:
1. Going/passing through one - way to save that extra kilometer and fuel.
2. Jumping the red lights.
3. Increased honking the traffic.
4. Driving in the foot path to save fuel and time.
5. Jumping into others lane, they think that they can save some fuel.

Why can't the commuters switch off their engine's and save some fuel instead of violating the traffic rules?. Share your suggestions and experience on this.

These can be attributed to lack of patience than scorching fuel prices. Everyone is in a hurry. Even the time I used to get 2.1 L for 100 bucks, people did most of these stupid things. They would queue up before the bunks the night before price hike, starting-stopping-idling to fill for 50 or 100 to save 50 paise next day.

Buddy, The mentioned habits have little to do with the hike in fuel prices and more to do with their civic sense and driving sense. Even if in fuel prices go up or come down, habitual offenders and cartoons would still be there and these shortcuts will be there as well.
