Hi

I'm search for a new car which has good ride quality over potholes, bumps etc. I read from some magazines that swift has better ride quality than jazz but I also heard that Swift petrol in LXI/VXI trims has better ride quality due to high profile tyres. But I'm looking for either Swift ZDI (Diesel, low profile tyres) or New Jazz

Can anyone tell me which one has better ride quality between Swift ZDI and Jazz?

Welcome abroad terrafield. I am sure if you be little specific by your needs on ride quality. People will be able to give their inputs.

I test drove Swift old and Jazz old some time back and found. Swifts ride quality little stiff over Jazz.

Just wanted to inform you that some people like stiff suspensions and some do not.

Really tough to judge. Both are equally good but slightly edge to swift due to stiff suspension of jazz.

Re: Ride Quality, New Swift vs New Jazz?

@JazzSelect Thanks for your inputs
@Shailinder, Thanks for your inputs. Actually I'm searching for a car for my daily use (home to office to home). My route to office is really worst though its just 5kms. Lots of potholes, speed breakers, broken roads (some of them are very sharp and deep). I had i10 and I sold this car mainly due to this problem. I got back pain because of riding over these undulations in i10.

Now I'm looking for a car which has best ride quality at the same I don't want to compromise on ASS/Reliability.

Though Polo, Fabia and Punto has best ride quality I'm quiet concerned about reliability particularly when compared to Swift and Jazz.
Vista also has better ride quality but I didn't choose mainly because of ASS.
Then had Figo test drive, though ride quality is good, ground clearance is really bad on the same speed breakers (my daily route)

Now I have only 2 options (New Swift ZDI, and New Jazz). I'm choosing Swift diesel over petrol mainly because of the urban drive ability due to good low end torque in diesel.

Now can you help me in deciding which one is better

Re: Ride Quality, New Swift vs New Jazz?

Welcome aboard terrafield!

If the question is just on ride quality, I would rate Jazz a little higher than Swift. Swift is peppy no doubt, but it has body roll and stiffer suspension. Jazz comes out more planted as well as light handling. Jazz although does not have a diesel to boast of. So if the decision is Swift VDI, let me beware you that bookings are closed, if you have not already done so. And in case of booking as well, do expect a min of 5-6 months of delivery time.

As far as ride quality is concerned:

old Jazz = New Jazz

Old Swift < New Swift

Old Swift < Old Jazz

But New Swift > New Jazz

Hope this clarifies.

@Nuvo, That was a nice input.

I'm trying for a test drive at my place (to see the ride quality in my route so that I can get to know clear difference) but Both Maruti and Honda are not offering test drives for Swift and Jazz at customer location. In fact they are not taking any bookings for Swift and Jazz though some maruti dealers are taking bookings but not offering test drive

Both the cars are in a huge demand with long waiting periods. So it is certain why the dealerships are not very keen on offering the drive. You should insist though and check if they can offer it from the dealership location itself.

Hatchback with Good Ride Quality and A.S.S / Reliability

Hello TAI members

This is my first post in TAI. I'm looking for a car with good ride quality and After Sales Service/Reliability. My usage is 700kms per month
(100% city usage - home-office-home in heavy traffic, congested streets, lots of potholes).
I'm not sure if I need to go for Diesel car. My budget is 5 to 6 and I'm considering Swift, Polo, Jazz and Brio

Brio looks interesting. Can anyone let me know if Brio has better ride quality when compared to i10?

Please let me know your inputs

Thanks

Go for diesel, also in your budget you can get Diesel Vista Vx,Punto Emotion, Figo, Ritz VDi

Brio looks interesting. Can anyone let me know if Brio has better ride quality when compared to i10?
Yes it has , also Brio is fun to drive in city.

Re: Hatchback with Good Ride Quality and A.S.S / Reliability

Honda Brio doesn't comes with a Diesel Engine option. Your running is a little high but limited to cities - I would recommend considering Petrol as well. You can later install LPG / CNG if the expenses seems to be out of control. Just shortlist the favorite cars first and take a test drive of all of them afterwards. While we can help offering correct advice but unless you personally experience and drive the cars, you will not be satisfied.

Re: Hatchback with Good Ride Quality and A.S.S / Reliability

@Surfer and 350Z, thanks for your inputs

I do realize that I will get satisfaction only after my personal experience. but the problem is regarding test drive. If we take Honda Brio, they give only showroom test drive where the roads are really good and I'm not able to conclude about Brio's ride quality. I need to to drive on my home-office route only then I can conclude. Since I had i10 and sold it mainly because of poor ride quality I don't want to take another chance

Thats the reason to know if Brio's ride quality is better than i10

I had test drive in my route for Polo, Punto, Ritz, Figo etc Though Punto, Figo and Polo has good ride quality I don't want to take risk on their reliability/ASS. Maruti has better ASS but Ritz which I test drove had poor ride quality just like i10.

So in Maruti I'm looking for Swift and in Honda I'm looking for Jazz and Brio. But I want to know which has better ride quality of these 3 cars

Re: Hatchback with Good Ride Quality and A.S.S / Reliability

It seems you have already done the initial part of test driving the required vehicles. Out of the all 3 you have identified, Jazz has the best ride quality and a great engine with ample amount of cabin space. It seems the best option for you. Not sure if Jazz is still available for booking.

I would also recommend you to go for a petrol as your running is comparatively less and *only* city. You do not want to buy a diesel and drive it in turbo lag all the time. That will be fruitless.
