Chrome will look good here-
Rims (only outline, not whole rim).
Silencer
Chrome Garnish Around headlamp or Indicator.

Please don't use too much chrome, will look tacky.
Other option- Replace Bulbs with LEDs & Design LED drl for conspicuity.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I wonder if just the outline's of the rims can be chromed? Bajaj Super has 10" rims or 8" I am not sure, the wheel itself comes in 2 pieces.

Silencer & headlamp surround is easy, '82 models were without indicators & battery, will the LED's work without battery, will try.

1. about the rims I was thinking to have a band of 2 inch Crome or something. if the chrome is being electroplated, this can't be done. if chrome is paint or tape, can be done.

2. LEDs will work as long as voltage stays about 12-13v. is the scoot an Old 6v standard? then we can custom design leds for it.

@Swargam.N1 thanks for the complements, yes the engine was overhauled, all electrics stock, no conversions.

@parveen thanks for the complements, go ahead with the restoration, go to your fathers original mechanic if possible, or a veteran Bajaj scooter mechanic, every thing is available, keep it stock 6V, you are in Delhi?, very easily available in karol bagh, Pahar ganj etc.
all the best.

Hello Sir,

A very nice thread, hoping to see more pics of your scooter here. I have bought a single owner Bajaj Cub 1992 model from my relative.

I will be starting a 4 restoration thread pretty soon. However I need one clarification.

After how many thousand kms, do we rebuild a chetak's engine. This scooter is in good running condition, needs some clutch work & full body denting & painting.

Thanks Anand for the compliments, will be looking forward to your restoration of a rear Bajaj Cub.

An engine rebuild depends solely on the usage and maintenance of bajaj scooter, they are so strong and bullet proof, I did an engine rebuild twice for my 1982 Bajaj Super. Go for the rebuild only if you feel low compression, lot of smoke, rings worn out, any way they are still so cheap to rebuild, show it to an old two stroke scooter mech, he will diagnose it correctly.

Hi Dhana, welcome to TAI, and a TAIger @Anand (SS80) just restored his Bajaj Cub in Bangalore, you could get in touch for help, however, the things which you are looking for are quite common items, which should not be an issue.

Thanks Viraj, and welcome to TAI.

I don't use the Bajaj much, but it does run well.

You can get your Dad's Bajaj Chetak restored as stock, or go wild with the paint scheme, but do get a good mechanic first who can share your passion.

Keep us updated.

All the best.
Amazing restoration job Vinod Sir, The scooter looks cool[clap]
I remember riding these in my hometown for fun in 2002.
seeing your scooter reminded me of those fun times.
Thanks Avinesh, for your appreciation, its sure a hoot to scoot around in my Bajaj Super, they are rugged and abuse friendly.

Regards
Vinod
