Finally, just this month the goat entrails predicted a showing of a new Alpine at the Monaco Grand Prix, which arrives in the principality this weekend. And the leaked rendering pictured above of the Renault A110-50 concept is the very Alpine purportedly to be revealed on Friday. Looking more inspired by the Renault DeZir concept (right) from two years ago, with some uneven assistance from Photoshop, all Renault needs to do is omit the two supplementary nostrils on the leading edge and tell us where to send a deposit. The built-up concept is loosely based on a Renault Megane with a tube-frame chassis, hiding a 400-horsepower V6 amidships.

Renault has now unveiled the hotly-anticipated A110-50 - a concept car that commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Alpine 110. The design draws both on old models, built by Alpine between 1955 and 1985, and on the Dezir concept car Renault unveiled in 2010.As a nod to the Alpine 110, Renault has included a set of small bulges on the hood that would originally have held lights but are now purely there for aesthetics.

Other design features include a carbon-fiber body and scissor doors, while the engine can be seen through the back window. Inside a minimalist dashboard is coupled with a steering wheel incorporating a color information screen. It has long been touted that the Alpine brand will one day rise from the ashes, and the fact the A110-50 utilizes proven technology easily adapted for production lends weight to such a view. The Renault Megane Trophy race car's platform has been used for the concept, which is powered by a mid-mounted 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine good for 395hp and 311lb-ft of torque.

Performance figures have yet to be released although we know power is sent to the rear wheels via an F1-inspired sequential transmission with six forward gears using a pedal-operated clutch and paddle shifters.A decision whether to revive the Alpine brand will be made later in the year. If it does, expect the green light on a limited run production of this gorgeous high-performance sports car.
