Thought of sharing some news about the expected bikes from RE stable.
RE plans to showcase the 500cc Thunderbird which will be designed in lines of Honda Gold wing. This design could be a std design or a add on kit. Do expect digital instrumental cluster & projector head lights for the first time from RE. This could evolve the cruising bike segment in India mostly for people who cannot afford the HD bikes.

The other bike hitting the limelight would be the Café Racer style RE this would have an interesting engine[surprise]. let this be a surprise.

Royal Enfield Continental GT Café Racer spied

Royal Enfield’s sporty Café Racer, the Continental GT has already been warmly received wherever showcased at prominent international motor shows. It’s already confirmed the eagerly anticipated, all Indian classic bike will slip into showrooms here later this year, while a pre-production Royal Enfield Continental GT has just been photographed being tested in the Bangalore region by a Royal Enfield aficionado and Autocar India reader. The picture shows a cropped front mudguard, elongated fuel-tank, sporty clip-on handlebars and spoke rims, apart from a flat, comfortable riding saddle with ample room for two.

Expect the Continental GT to house a four-stroke, single-cylinder, 535cc, air-cooled and fuel-injected engine.

This café racer will be held together by a tubular steel constructed frame and swingarm, with telescopic fork front suspension and a pair of gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. For stopping power, the café racer is expected to use single disc brakes front and rear. Chunky tyres will add muscle to this smart motorcycle and we look forward to getting astride the Continental GT in days to come.

The loyal fans of the iconic bike maker Royal Enfield and also performance enthusiasts alike had been waiting for the Royal Enfield Café Racer ever since it was first showcased first at the 2010 Auto Expo in Delhi. There have been sightings of the bike at many international auto shows but now it seems that the bike is finally ready to hit the roads soon.

According to a report at NDTV, Eicher Motors Ltd. CEO Siddhartha Lal took the prototype of the cafe racer out for a ride from Goa to Mangalore via Gokarna. In the report, it was mentioned that according to Siddhartha, the Continental GT was flex-free and effortless around the corners, and great fun.

It was mentioned that the Continental GT, a cafe racer, is powered by a 535cc, air-cooled single, which is a bored out version of the Classic 500's 499cc Unit Construction Engine - with a re-mapped ECU and a lighter flywheel which makes it rev quicker. According to Siddhartha, Continental GT will be the most powerful and the fastest Royal Enfield motorcycle to hit the streets once it goes into production later this year.

The bike in frame looks ravishing except for the red saddle bags which might turn out to be an accessory for the bike later along with other host of RE accessories which are already available at select show rooms. It was reported that the Continental GT features a double down-tube and cradle design and Paioli developed shocks at the rear and sticky Pirelli tyres. The cafe racer is also around 15 kilos lighter than the recently launched Thunderbird 500. The bike also reportedly sports a Brembo full-floating disc; and a ByBre disc brake at the rear.

I've checked out the Royal Enfield 535 Cafe Racer aka ConGT images on the
net and it looks really unique, atleast among its RE stablemates.

But I hope & pray that Royal Enfield comes up with Harley Davidson-rivalling
cruisers in future, or atleast something like Hyosung GV650 Aquila Pro.

Royal Enfield Continental GT cafe racer confirmed for end-2013

The Royal Enfield Continental GT, a typical text book style cafe racer, will be the first new product from the iconic motorcycle manufacturer to roll out from the newly set up factory at Oragadam near Chennai.

Speaking to the media during the inauguration of the Oragadam plant, Mr. Siddhartha Lal, MD and CEO of Eicher Motors Ltd., the parent company of Royal Enfield, stated that the Continental GT is slated for launch by the year end.

Drivespark.com reports that, Mr. Lal also went on to inform that the much awaited sports bike will be powered by a 525cc engine which will be manufactured at the new plant. RE currently has a 499cc single cylinder engine which powers the Bullet 500, Classic 500 and the Thunder Bird 500. The current engine produces a healthy 27.2 bhp and we can safely expect more power from the new 525cc mill.

The RE Continental GT was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo last year where it earned lots of appreciations. The company has already started testing the bike. The only difference in the production version is that it has a useable pillion seat.

The low, flat clip-on handlebars, a long slender fuel tank and rear-set rider foot pegs mean that you get a perfect crouching riding posture, just what is required for a drag race!

Spied – Three different variants of Royal Enfield Continental GT spotted

The Royal Enfield Continental GT, a retro cafe racer has started being in the news quite frequently.

RE is evaluating three variants of the bike but it remains to be seen whether all will make it to the market.

The Continental GT grabs attention with its old school charm and a ready-to-go-racing character. The aggressive riding posture distinguishes it from the rest of its stablemates. It’s not built for comfortable cruising, its built for racing!

The motorcycle will be powered by a 535cc single cylinder, four stroke, liquid cooled UCE engine. The performance stats are not available yet but the cafe racer will be the fastest and the lightest RE in the current lineup. Expect the bike to have a top speed in the vicinity of 160kph.

Coming back to the spyshot, out of the three different seating arrangements, two are single seat layouts while one allows a pillion rider. We reckon the standard variant would come with pillion seat while the single seat layouts would be optional. Another interesting detail that emphasizes the bike’s racing intention is the adjustable rider foot pegs.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT will be made at the company’s new plant in Oragadam. The bike will be launched by the end of this year.

Royal Enfield Continental GT to be launched in India in October

The Royal Enfield Continental GT Cafe Racer is all set to be launched in the UK in the second week of September.

After the inauguration of a new manufacturing facility at Oragadam near Chennai in April, the Continental GT is the first new product from the classic motor cycle brand. If you recall, the product was showcased at 2012 Auto Expo as a concept.

The Cafe Racer will go on sale first in the UK next month. Rushlane reports that the Indian launch will happen in the month of October, at the start of the festive season.

Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director & CEO, Eicher Motors Limited -
At Royal Enfield, there is a lot of excitement about the Continental GT that is set for an international launch in the second week of September. With its state of the art Oragadam plant steadily increasing production and a differentiated product pipeline, Royal Enfield is working to expand its distribution footprint both in the domestic and international markets towards achieving leadership in the global mid-size motorcycle segment.
The Royal Enfield Continental GT is powered by a fuel injected 535cc single-cylinder four-stroke liquid cooled engine. The technical specifications are still a secret but it’s certain that the Continental GT will be the fastest Royal Enfield in the current family.

Royal Enfield starts series production of the Continental GT

The Royal Enfield Continental GT has started its series production run at the classic motorcycle company’s new plant in Oragadam, Chennai.

Scheduled to make its global debut in the UK by the second week of September, the classic retro Cafe Racer style sportsbike will hit Indian roads a little later, probably in the month of October. Apart from being the country of Royal Enfield’s origin, England is also one of the largest export markets for the brand which is under the wings of Eicher Motors.

The Cafe Racer is idiosyncratic in more than one way compared to the other thumpers in the current lineup. For starters, the riding position of the Continental GT is aggressive and race focused while the other Bullets offer a relaxed and upright posture. Then comes the new fuel injected 535cc single-cylinder liquid cooled engine that is expected to be the most powerful unit in the current portfolio.

The bike is reported to be at least 15kg lighter than any other contemporary Royal Enfield. This also makes it the most dynamic and the fastest RE in recent times.

The rear view mirrors on the production version are an eyesore though.

Hoping that the handlebar end mirrors are atleast offered as accessories.
