Land Rover has released first images of the five door Evoque that is also expected to go on sale in India in two years time. So far, only pictures of the three door model were available but today, LR released images of the five door Evoque. The five door Evoque will make its debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November. Like the three door model, the five door Evoque will get two engines – A 2.2L turbodiesel producing either 148bhp or 187bhp and a 2.0L Ecoboost petrol borrowed from Ford producing 237bhp. Both diesels come with Stop-Start as standard when ordered with a manual gearbox.

There is an option of choosing either front wheel drive or all wheel drive for the Evoque. There is no traditional gearlever but a circular gear selector that rises from the transmission tunnel for the six speed automatic version like in the Jaguar XF. A full-length panoramic roof is an option, but if you don’t want glass, contrasting paint colours of lid will also be available as a no-cost option. Also on the options list are a dual-view TFT screen, an upgrade to the stock stereo that gives you a 17 speaker Meridian system with 1200W, park assist, dual-zone climate control with a timer facility, powered tailgate, adaptive headlights and a heated windscreen.

Wow that is one amazingly tech laden car!

The front looks mean and aggressive but the rear is bad IMO! Reversing is near impossible if not for the parking sensors!

Perhaps, this is the most futuristic Land Rover ever designed. I love its stance and appearance. It won’t be surprising if Evoque quickly becomes the most preferred model amongst buyers.

Update: Land Rover has today officially commenced the production of this mighty beast at Halewood manufacturing unit in Liverpool. The first car to come off the line will be donated to British Motor Industry Heritage Trust.

“It is a groundbreaking product, a Range Rover with concept car looks, lightweight technologies and the capability to deliver 50mpg fuel economy. At the same time it’s still a true Range Rover that’s agile, nimble, designed to survive in the urban jungle and capable of tackling the toughest climates and terrains thanks to Land Rover’s legendary all-wheel drive expertise.” said Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover's CEO.
