Pune To Goa (Diwali 2022): Route Plan Needed

Hello Folks,

we have planned 3 day trip to north goa Candolim after Diwali (26 -28 Oct) .
Yeh, i know - it will be crowded to hell; the landlord also advised same to go South first and then visit North once crowd is less.
but not getting good stay option as of now.

Anyway -- Question is Route ?
this is my first trip to Goa (Yes). We wanted to start on 25th but Daughter suggested to go on 26th.

Could any one from forum suggest a good route from Pune- Goa . I drive a humble WagonR, its not a beast .

Pune Kolhapur Nippani Sankeshwar Gadhinglaj Ajra Amboli Sawantwadi Banda North goa.

Start early at 5am from Pune so that by max 3pm you can reach North Goa in relaxed way

I used to go 3 years back. Used to take Kohlapur Amboli Ghat road

That's a nice update! Congratulations
If at all, you are going to south Goa first, then you can consider Chorla ghat route also.

Hello All,

Thanks for the all your wishes and inputs.

We got Tata Nexon(P) Dark edition delivered on 5-Oct.

Post delivery- drove for some 50-60 odd kms on few occasions before jumping to Goa trip.

We completed the Trip of Pune-Goa-Pune by 31-Oct. Apologies for late update on thread.
Start date -> Pune- 26-Oct- 0545 Hrs.
Stay option-- 1 BHK service apartment @ Calangute

Crossed Katraj and joined Bangalore highway in 30-40 min. Then, Vehicle started its tantrum-- Rear shockers started giving squeaking noise.
Had no choice but to bear this for complete trip . Reached Vithal Kamat near Nipani by 1020 hrs.
Drove the vehicle mostly in Eco mode/85-95 kmps range/5-6 gears. MID mileage was 19 kmpl - Good thing to start the day, brought some smiles on face.

Post Nipani, we took right turn and it was normal 2 lane roads with general traffic. We reached Amboli ghat by 1330 hrs, took 30 min break at the waterfall.

We reached Goa (stay location)n by 4.15 pm; completed all formalities and checked in.
After 30 min of rest- had to wash the vehicle as it was dirty due to child vommit. Post cleaning- we moved to beach area.
There was a shortcut to beach from our stay area-- it was on junction of Arambol<>Calangute . there were 4-5 shacks, and almost dark.

We returned back; had dinner at 'Chandrakant Mess' . This small food outlet is 20+ yrs old; run by an old lady.
Food was normal spicy, taste was good.

Day2- Started the day with beach at 7 am, relaxed there.

Came back and got ourselves ready for Panji city tour. Visited church, Jetty point.Had lunch at Ritz Classic(Old one). its narrow lane hotel.
we had Fish thali, chicken Xacuti, Prawn garlic butter. Believe me- taste was amazing and rates were quite normal.
Return to apartment by 5 PM, then relaxed at there only.

Day3- We went for Dolphin ride from Kola beach. cost was 300 per person. and Yes, we saw dolphins - 3 to 4 times.
While returning, we bought some vegetable from Nerul market and had lunch at apartment. Around 3 pm- we ventured out to Baga.
Visited Snow park and then Baga beach in evening. It was too much rush on Friday, parking was not available at all. Took 1 hr to return 5 kms.

Day4- Visited Agoda fort in morning, ventured for 1 hour there. Came back; had lazy lunch and then moved to Benaulim beach (South goa).
Went to Rogers straightway, enjoyed the Sun, Sand and beach amidst cosy setups/Dinner. Its very different in South goa, really pea7ceful.
Returned back by 10 pm to home. we lost route 2 times and bridge construction cause traffic jam as well.

Day5- Visited Beach in morning. Afternoon- we again went to Calangute beach, spent 2 hours on beach watching sunset. Kids enjoyed the waters; we enjoyed good time on beach.
back to home and had home cooked dinner.

Day6-- started return journey around 7.30 AM; younger daughter was having motion sickness. She gave some trouble in first 2 hours. once she slept, we covered with good speed.
Post Nipani- it was normal affair.


Key notes--* having stayed at service apartment gave children a feeling of home like situation. And we could have home cooked breakfast and 1 meal at home.
Eating all meals Outside for 5 days is not viable.
* Having some prep work on good restaurants was boon. We truly enjoyed Cafe Ritz, Rogers@ Benaulim & Chandrakant. We thought of visiting Mikey's and Fisherman cove but could not get that opportunity.

Interior vacuum cleaning was not done properly .
