The car is looking purely dated!!

You are correct man! Indeed the car looks good. However lot of questions remains just as Raj had mentioned earlier in this thread. The biggest concern is the PAL group themselves. With a Chinese product, they may have to really sweat to make the ball rolling. I am really wondering about the quality of the product too. Say that we can trust the engine, what about other mechanical components and the quality of the body itself [confused]

Re: PAL Comes Back In Action, Launches Rio Mini-SUV

Thankfully, the sudden bells have ringed on the Premier Automobiles Limited and the company now plans to release an improved Rio with BS-4 Emission. Though the engine will remain same 1.5 Diesel unit sourced from Peugeot but the car will have refreshed body along with beige interiors. No definitive confirmation about the launch, but expect it to roll out latest by this Diwali.

Re: Premier Back in Action with Rio (BS-4 Coming Soon)

Atleast this one looks decent but hopefully they have changed all those cheap plastic too. but definately that engine ( Is it the same "TUD 5 " ) needs to be changed for the customers to look at it.
The engine is good but it's very outdated. Think it has won some best engine award in 2000? ( Don't remember the year ).

Wow, this one looks better than the current version. I hope this common man's SUV gets bolder & muscular with good engine & interiors. [thumbsup]
I am already excited with the launches for this year. [drive]

Re: Premier Back in Action with Rio (BS-4 Coming Soon)

things to be noted is-

1) who will play 5 lakhs for a pal when you can buy a hyundai, maruti, etc.
2) are there enough service centres? How is the service?
3) who would buy a boring/antique 65 bhp peugot tud5 engine in this era of common rails?
4) will anyone buy a "chinese" product? Cmon, we dont even buy chinese phones!
very well said!

Re: Premier Back in Action with Rio (BS-4 Coming Soon)

I have been dreaming to own a compact SUV similar to this from some time now. Though the pricing is almost perfect but only the after sales network and reliability remains a main concern. Mahindra is planning to answer this car with upcoming Mini-Xylo but wish if more auto-makers can come out targeting this niche. Here is an image of how the New Rio is going to look like (Much better than existing one).

Re: Premier Back in Action with Rio (BS-4 Coming Soon)

Premier Auto will launch a facelifted version of the Rio SUV in October, 2011. The company is working on the Rio update and has told us that it will be ready in the next 2-3 months time. The Rio would get a engine which would comply with BSIV emission norms. Possibility of the Fiat 1.3 liter Multijet engine powering the Rio is high. Expect better quality plastics and overall fit and finish in the new Rio. (Motorbeam)

Premier Rio facelifted; to get Fiat's 1.3 Multijet

Premier, Indian car maker which re-entered the car market with the Launch of the Rio SUV, has launched the Rio with refreshed interiors.

The Rio SUV now gets beige interior treatment, a new more upmarket look dashboard and gear knob. The headliner is also beige in colour which helps to make the Rio looks more spacious. The interior quality has been drastically improved and the door panels are also given the beige treatment. There are no changes under the hood in the current vehicle. When we asked the dealer head, he said to us that a facelifted variant of the Rio is expected soon. The SUV will also get a new BS4 engine. He hinted it could be the 1.3 multijet.

What makes us wonder now is that will Premier market 2 variants of the Rio? Or will the old one get replaced. The Chinese partner sells 2 variants of the Rio in China. We also expect a similar strategy to be adopted by Premier as the BS4 version could be priced higher. The small SUV segment is going get only more competitive as Mahindra will launch the Mini Xylo and Skoda also plans to launch a SUV under the 10 lakh mark

Wow, looks good for a mini SUV. But the bumpers look too plasticky. Overall, nice work by Premier. Any idea about the price?
