Thank for the heads-up @deville_56 , I don't understand how OEM can't train their personnel to maintain uniform standard of information, intelligence and processes across dealerships, no wonder they loose customers to FNGs. Now I need to scout all KTM SVCs in Bengaluru for this 1.7L bottle.
SVCs are driving school for freshers. They hire as apprentice from ITIs, let them learn on our bikes and they move on to better options like their own garage or a mechanic with premium brand. Those who stick back gets promoted and still be underpaid and frustrated due to pressure. End result, ruining our machines and bad reputation for the company.

I'd still go for 2 one litre bottles as there would be enough to top up, 390s are oil drinkers. Ours takes approximately 100-150 mL every 1000 km.

Thats the best choice.

The biggest problem with ktm is spares availability outside the showroom. Or else most would be doing their service outside.

Surprisingly, most of the FNGs servicing KTMs have routine parts in stock and they source rest of the parts in no time. Also the insta guy from whom I source spares also got most parts with him. And we have Bajaj showrooms for mechanical parts [cheers].

That is not the case here. Oil Services are fine. But any major work is difficult unless the FNG has some ties with the service centre.

December 2021 - Seat Cover

OE seat cover has been developing cracks for some time and sponge started exposing. Thought of replacing the seats, but thankfully, KTM guys had no clue as usual. @varun2910 suggested redoing it and has done a couple for client bikes while he was working at the SBK garage.

Done at A. Balan Upholstery Works. That shop has been there for over 50 years and I have been seeing their name embossed in seats as far as I can remember of. Experience speaks and evident in the outcome, close to original. Price was very, very nominal, just ₹ 450.00.

Once a service advisor from KTM told me that they increased the engine oil quantity to 1.8L.
In my 2017 D390, the oil level won't be correct even if i fill 1.8L

Yes, but the glass window will be empty. I think some oil is getting stuck between the pumps. (Suction pump and Force pump)
When we faced similar issue, I added 300 ml and corrected the level. Everything was fine until it showed overfilled and the level didn't go down after starting. Drained 300 ml and level was correct again. Then again it showed low. Friend's RC390 had same issue, which resolved by cleaning the pumps, so we did the same.

Exactly.
Cleaning the pumps as in opening the engine and cleaning the oil pumps?
Here is the link to the official e-manual from KTM for the Duke 390 where they have written the Engine Oil Capacity as 1.8L.

Can be cleaned by opening both side casings.
Done at Motonerdz. There was some blockage/debris that resulted in vague oil levels.

1.8 L capacity mentioned is the total capacity. 1.65 L is mentioned as service capacity, which is what is evacuated during regular oil changes and refilled. 1.8 needed only when the engine is fully disassembled. This is where they used to fill 1.5 L.

KTM in our area has started a standalone spare parts outlet now. The service center no longer sell parts over the counter.
However, we can order any part from their Spare Parts Store even if it's not in stock.

Welcome move. Most of the workshops here used to get spares from KTM Kollam as the dealer here wasn't in good terms with anyone, be it the garages, be it the customers.

Meanwhile, found another online vendor selling KTM parts, KTM SPARES. Don't know how good they are, based in Kanyakumari and provided shipping across.

BTB, KTM started their third service centre in Trivandrum near Technopark. If it's Deedi again, nothing to be positive about.
