Re: Porsche Confirms Macan SUV - Audi Q5 Challanger

Development work continues on the 2014 Porsche Macan as our spy photographers have caught the crossover undergoing testing on the Nürburgring.
Heavily influenced by the Cayenne, the model features a familiar front fascia with prominent air intakes and sweptback headlights. There's also a sloping roofline, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and a four-tailpipe exhaust system.
Under the hood, we can expect a variety of different engines. Petrol options are slated to include a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 220 hp (164 kW / 223 PS), a naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter V6 with 295 hp (220 kW / 299 PS) and possibly a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 370 hp (276 kW / 375 PS) in the Macan Turbo. On the diesel side, there could be a 2.0-liter TDI with 190 hp (142 kW / 193 PS) and a 3.0-liter V6 TDI with 250 hp (186 kW / 253 PS). There's also would of a hybrid variant which would have a powertrain sourced from the Audi Q5 Hybrid.

Re: Porsche Confirms Macan SUV - Audi Q5 Challanger

On road, I felt the Panamera 4S to be far more imposing than Cayenne. Cayenne looks like any other Porsche with high GC. I am still awaiting Porsche dealership in Pune.

Re: Porsche Confirms Macan SUV - Audi Q5 Challanger

Porsche’s Macan compact SUV is set to make its public debut next year when it will also go on sale, probably not previewed by a concept at the Paris Motor Show, in September. Aside from knowing that it is based on Audi’s Q5 platform with which it will share a few engines, not a great deal is known about it.

Well, according to goauto.com.au, who have interviewed Porsche SUV chassis manager Markus Schieritz, the Macan, in its range-topping form, will be the fastest compact SUV on the market, being powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine with 370-hp, which is currently under development with the main focus of making it the fastest in its class.

Also, to match its straight line speed, an additional focus for the Macan will be excellent handling, and as we understand it, it will be more handling-focused than the Cayenne, for instance. According to Mr. Schieritz, even the Porsche engineers behind the project are impressed with the car’s handling characteristics - I assume that those engineers are hard to please, so if something excites them, it must be really good.

Re: Porsche Confirms Macan SUV - Audi Q5 Challanger

Porsche has marked an important milestone at its Leipzig plant: The manufacturing facility has officially cranked out its 500,000th vehicle. Matthias Muller, Porsche president and CEO, gave a specially outfitted Cayenne to the city of Leipzig as a token of the company's appreciation for giving the manufacturer a home in the area. Porsche converted the luxury SUV into a fire department vehicle for the city, complete with an appropriate livery and light bar.

Porsche began manufacturing the Cayenne in Leipzig in 2002, but has steadily increased production capacity over the past ten years. Right now, the facility is producing more vehicles than it ever has, and the German manufacturer is already working to accommodate the new Macan line. The smaller SUV will begin rolling out of the factory doors by the end of 2013.

The automaker says it is investing more than $629.4 million in the Leipzig plant in order to ready the facility for the new model. That includes the addition of an all-new body-assembly line and paint shop as well as hiring 1,000 new employees.

Re: Porsche Confirms Macan SUV - Audi Q5 Challanger

If this rendering turns out to be correct,Porsche defiantly has a big winner on there hands.[clap]
Thanks for the information. Macan really looks promising, I think its much more appealing than the Q5, rear quarter reminds you of the BMW X6. And going by Porsche's reputation the dynamics are going to be great as usual, really looking forward to more on this.

guys i need only these things in my life- roti, kapda or macan!! [:D]
Hey that's real funny [lol]

Are you planing to buy one of these?
Sorry for replying late.
Buying one of these ? Not now. Lot of money has been spent in past 2 yrs, hence the pause for these things. I will though surely check it out once Porsche launches their dealership in Pune.

Re: Porsche Confirms Macan SUV - Audi Q5 Challanger

Porsche won't put its second crossover into production for another year, but the Macan is already causing some controversy. Not the Porsche-has-sold-its-soul controversy that accompanied the launch of its big brother Cayenne, but the why-is-the-German-government-subsidizing-it kind.

According to Reuters, the European Commission has launched an investigation into the German government's €43 million grant (over $53 million U.S.) for Porsche's Leipzig, Germany, plant expansion, on the grounds that such assistance may be anti-competitive. The recent move by Volkswagen to consolidate its ownership of Porsche likely played into the decision, according to the report.

Porsche's Leipzig plant, where the company currently builds the Cayenne and Panamera, is undergoing a €500 million expansion ($629 million) in advance of the Macan. The facility just produced its 500,000th vehicle this month
