Sir good point, but this is same as any touch screen HU within a car, the rear view mirror area is probably better than looking left/down.
Again the major purpose was to have all the facilities it provides including front and rear cams, it can be simply used as a dimmed mirror too.

Couple of updates on the Monty

I replaced the upper ball joint - given the toll it had taken, especially this year monsoon has wiped out roads in the areas i frequent. Also left side tie rod had some play - ordered genuine 555(japanese) stuff and replaced.
Now i am considering replacing all suspension bushes(lower arms/upper arms and lower ball joint etc) to give that department a new baseline

Also did an AC gas and oil replacement, used a Oil and gas recovery and replacement automatic machine from Texa , the gas level needed to be around 850 grams and it was hardly 470 gms

Tried experimenting with canbus LED lights for the rear brake light, so far the experiment is a failure as monty immediately throws up error code with the stop switch lamp, so back to usual T20 bulbs

Finally a nice wash over the weekend

what are the prices for the parts that your replaced.I can see that the ball joint has 3 bolts holding it and replacing that alone should suffice ! [clap]
The weight and the terrain definitely takes toll on these massive SUVs .Also seems that they are not serviceable ribber joints due to lack of zirk fitting
My fortuner needs the whole arm to be replaced as a unit should something go bad [roll]

Yes ball joints are off 3 bolts, so this design is very handy and makes easy to replace - so far suspension bushes/ball joints(upper lower)/tie rods(inner and outer), arm bushes costed me around 17k or so.
Yes no zirk fitting on these, nearly everything in montero is fully sealed including the propeller shafts etc

Only one greasing point is front propeller shaft!

Finally got a long pending job done, cleaned the inlet manifold, this takes time and patience - the amount of gunk is astonishing probably half a kg carbon!
My hunch in doing this worked well - i strongly recommend this on all vehicles running our conditions post a lakh kms.

Some pictures, got the throttle body and rest of the plumbing cleaned as well!
Excellent difference post the job, the engine feels as good as new, plus more silent and pickup improved, basically its breathing nice and easy now. Now i am thinking of blocking off the egr so it stays this way forever!

Bro, Big belated congrats for the new addition. I feel you dearly love owning SUV(s). Hope the big daddy SUV is munching miles happily. Wish you a long and happy ownership with it. Sorry but I missed out a lot of updates in past 7 months hence couldn't reply back then.

Finally a favorite video of mine dedicated to you buddy[:D]

ha ha Thank you Sir, love for automobiles very largely translates to love for SUVs in my case - good to hear back - hope all well at your end.
Obviously buying a 1 lakh plus run vehicle sounds like madness in most cases or desperation - in my case it was more owning a piece of this legend.
If i had to put my money on something like this - has to be a mitsu or toyota or honda or subaru likes.

So far its going well - i am bringing it to baseline (85% done-15% pending!)

Did you observe variation in the idling rpm ? Also did you use any engine oil additives? Was the inlet manifold removed too and cleaned up?A full cleaning of intercooler would also addup to optimize intake air.
I am also contemplating doing the same thing you have done now on TANTOR.

No idle was steady, heard on a lot of mitsu forums that the big 3.2 collects a lot of carbon post 2 lakh kms of running , with our fuel i thought that process will accelerate.
Now it breathes much better and the rpm climbs fastt! Yes it was completely removed, degreased, cleaned and put back. My intercooler seems clean as the plumbing points are rock solid - air intake temp seems to be ok on obd too. So didnt go here.

I have no used any oil addictive - somehow the idea of mixing good synth oil with an addictive - i am not comfortable. I did however flush the engine and then used a shell 5w-40 fully synth oil.
Sorry for my ignorance how much is TANTOR run so far ?

TANTOR is on a very long trip..he may breach 1.5 lakhs on my return home . Currently at 149084 kms to be precise.I have already moved the dealership to give me details of the 1.5 lakh service As per my research it's going to involve timing belt replacement. I want to also change all fluids and set a baseline like you did for ease of follow up maintainence

Yes I would change the timing belt a tad faster than recommended just to be on the safer side. Suggest you do that asap.
Regarding the fluids yes, it's best to establish a known baseline

I had asked my service advisor at Toyota when I crossed 1.4 lakhs he suggested to wait till 1.5 lakh anyways..I am getting it changed this time as I'm just 200 kms short of 1.5 lakhs and the service indicator will start glowing in the dashboard

Finally most of the suspension bushes i replaced on the front (except the stabiliser) - some pictures(some old some new).
This includes upper/lower ball joints, upper/ lower arm bushes , tie rods and link rods.
the struts and coil are fine so not touching that. it was a pain to remove the lower arm bolts as probably it was opened the first time ever, even the link rods had to literally cut!
The old bushes had definitely endured a massive beating over the lakh plus kms - all the stuff was mostly 555 japan or rbi or OEM.
Very impressed to generally see the quality of the components and the way they are heavy and built to last - the arm weight/quality was massive compared to some of over local SUVs.

Missed posting this early, one of the major bush culprit was the stabilizer bushes and once i opened it the reason was apparent.
The previous owner put in some cheap duplicate bush and added rubber packing on top [frustration]!

In went RBI - all issues solved! I slept well since that night!
