According to ACI Nissan will bring its latest global executive saloon, the Sylphy, to India in 2014. This saloon will be positioned between the Sunny and the Teana and take on the likes of the Renault Fluence, VW Jetta and Toyota Corolla. The Sylphy was recently unveiled at the Beijing motor show.

Nissan states that this car is roomier than other saloons in its class and is constructed with improved materials. The Sylphy will be powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine mated to six-speed manual and CVT gearbox. But the big news is that it will also get Renault’s 1.5-litre 108bhp K9K diesel engine which also does duty in the Fluence.

Nissan has packed New Sylphy with modern gizmos. Somehow, I still like the previous model for its unfussy and elegant design. Given the Renault's 1.5L mill, we should expect some competitive pricing.

Bring the same interiors to India and you have a winner.

Two relatively disappointing things : 1. Exteriors looks very similar to Sunny (particularly the front); 2. The same 1.5L diesel used across 3 segments

The first images and the specifications of the next-gen Nissan Sentra are unofficially out. Like the current generation model, it will debut as the all-new Nissan Sylphy in China.

The new generation model measures 4,651 mm long, 1,815 mm wide and 1,447 mm/1,450 mm tall. The length and width have increased by 20 mm and 55 mm respectively, while the height has reduced by 56 mm/53 mm. The wheelbase has grown by 12 mm to 2,712 mm.

At the front, the all-new Nissan Sentra sports sleek boomerang headlamps, the voluminous V-motion grille, low hood and a muscular bumper. On the sides, the sedan shows off the signature kick-up C-pillars and 17-inch machined alloy wheels. At the rear, the new tail lamps are more streamlined, and like the headlamps, should feature LED technology.
