National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has just awarded the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze five-stars overall safety rating thus proving it to be one of the safest family cars of 2011 in its class. The Cruze is among the first cars to be tested under the new, revised New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) for 2011 model year.
“Cruze has achieved five-star crash safety scores everywhere it is rated in the world. This is the direct result of our global engineering team’s focused effort,” said Jeff Boyer, General Motors’ executive director of vehicle safety.“These safety ratings reflect the confidence we have in Cruze’s state-of-the-art safety technologies and overall crash-worthiness.”
Advanced safety features included on the global model of the Chevy Cruze are as under:

Advanced safety features included on the global model of the Chevy Cruze are as under:
- 10 air bags including front knee air bags – a first for the segment
- Front passenger seat occupant sensing system
- Panic Brake Assist and Enhanced Smart Pedal
- StabiliTrak electronic stability control
- Rollover sensing technology that enables timely head curtain side air bag deployment
- Three-point safety belts in all five seating positions
- Safety belt retractor pretensioners and lap pretensioners in the driver and front-passenger positions
- Safety belt load limiters (with pretensioners) in the front safety belt retractors
- Child seat latching system in the rear seat
- Tire pressure monitoring system
- Daytime running lamps and automatic headlamps
