Skoda’s facelift of their popular SUV is coming along nicely.

Four years into its life cycle and it's time for the small SUV to get a mild refresh. The front end benefits from the biggest visual change, with a new, more masculine, front bumper that looks to have bigger air intakes.Atop the grille, the chrome bar adapts to the new look, which will first be seen on the Skoda Rapid and that previewed on the Concept Mission L. The headlight graphics also appear to have changed, while at the rear changes have been made to both rear light graphic and bumper.

As new engines have appeared in the VW/Skoda family of late, we expect some of these to find their way under the Yeti's hood and we also expect some minor changes to the interior.

Re: SKODA YETI REFRESH - on it's way

Great. The alloys (or are they steel wheels) look bad. Hope the production version looks better. And Skoda better price the refreshed version better if they aim to see better numbers. Yeti is a wonderful product that has not done good numbers purely because of 2 reasons - price and size.

Those are steel wheels with cap's, Yeti sells in decent number's in Europe let's hope that Skoda prices it well in India, it's high time Skoda stop's charging premium for their product's.

Skoda planing to launch the facelifted yeti in 2013

2013 Skoda Yeti Design Changes -
The upcoming facelift is comprehensive one with Yeti getting a ‘tougher’ look.
The new Skoda Yeti is expected to get squared headlights with beveled corners and square fog lights like the European Rapid. Skoda chief designer Jozef Kaban wanted the round fog lights to stay in the facelift because he thought it gave the Yeti a ‘Lion-like’ stance. However, he eventually settled for a rectangular fog lights because it was necessary that all models had a single connector design line.
The new design will also incorporate changes to the rear fascia. The Yeti will get new rear lights that will protrude into the side profile of the body.
Skoda’s design team is also contemplating on usage of LEDs. They will use the LED technology the form of tubes, not the individual points to differentiate it from Audi models.
Two vertical kinks will feature on the back door under the license plate lights – just like the Skoda Rapid.

However they do the modification and facelift, I seriously feel that they need to do some correction on pricing if they want to have good numbers in Indian market, at least I hope this for their 4x2 model which base model is at 15.5L on road at present. Otherwise it is a very compact and beautiful SUV in the market !!

Rendering – Skoda Yeti facelift gets the new family look

The Skoda Yeti with its quirky styling and a rather high price tag hasn’t gone all too well in the Indian markets, but globally the SUV enjoys a good acceptance.

Starting with the European Rapid, the Czech automaker gradually introduced the new design identity and the modern corporate look. The new Octavia came in late last year bearing the improvements followed by the flagship Superb.

We have been keeping you updated about the Skoda Yeti facelift which is likely to be the next product launch for the VW owned brand. The test mules were spotted testing earlier in China with decoy ‘Suzuki Grand Vitara’ badges and logos!

Here is a rendering of the Yeti facelift created by Automobile-magazine.fr. No surprises here, we know what to expect.

The new front grill gets accentuated edges, while the new Skoda corporate logo now sits on the bonnet rather than on the grill. The headlamps also get sharp edges instead of the current car’s curvy shape. The oversized foglamps that are embedded just underneath the headlamps are retained. Obviously, the car will feature new front bumpers.

The rear is also expected to undergo significant changes. The Chinese test mule was seen with a tailgate mounted spare wheel, but it remains to be seen whether this will filter down to the international model as well.

The powertrain options are expected to continue as it is. The India spec SUV comes with a 2.o litre diesel engine which is available in two states of tune – 110 hp and 140 hp. The less powerful variant makes do with a 5-speed manual gearbox while the 140bhp version offers a 6-speed manual unit.

The facelifted Skoda Yeti is likely to make its debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.

Skoda to facelift Yeti soon, also introduce with smaller engines

Skoda Yeti facelift will unveil at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September. However for India, the company is focusing on the Octavia first. Post which it will start working on the Yeti facelift. The Skoda Yeti will be coming in India in the next few months after the official launch of the Octavia.

The company is planning to introduce smaller engines on this compact SUV. From what we understand from our sources, it could get the 1.5-litre or the 1.6-litre diesel to make it competitive with the Duster and there is a good possibility to see the 1.2-litre TSI mill too.

Though, we aren’t sure on how people will react to this, but this is what some of our sources confirmed. As the Chakan plant is already assembling this 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine for the Polo GT TSI. One the Cross Polo is available with the 1.5-litre diesel, we can expect the same mill to propel the Yeti too. This will help Skoda to cut down the cost for the Yeti and get it in the Duster/Terrano price territory. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol, well maybe with the seven-speed DSG it could make a difference and also make it highly competitive too.

The other upgrade that we will expect from the Skoda brand is for the Superb, as it will also get the facelift.

The extensively revised ŠKODA Yeti is now rolling off the production lines at the ŠKODA AUTO Kvasiny plant. The popular compact SUV is now available in two variations – the elegantly-stylish ŠKODA Yeti for the city, and the adventurous ŠKODA Yeti Outdoor. Both variations feature new designs, fresh interiors and innovative technical features. For the first time on board a ŠKODA, the Yeti has a rear-view camera. The market launch is to take place in January 2014 with pre-orders being taken since October.

With the production launch of the ŠKODA Yeti, ŠKODA has implemented the next start of production of the current year after the Octavia, Superb and Rapid Spaceback. “2013 is ŠKODA’s year of new models,” says ŠKODA Board Member for Production Michael Oeljeklaus. “The successful start of production for the Yeti is the result of another outstanding team performance.” The ŠKODA Yeti is being produced at the Kvasiny plant, where approximately 4,500 employees manufacture the ŠKODA Yeti alongside the ŠKODA Superb and ŠKODA Roomster.
For the first time, the Yeti is available in two variations: the elegantly-stylish urban ŠKODA Yeti for the city and the off-road ŠKODA Yeti Outdoor. Both variations boast excellent handling on roads and rough terrain.

The popular Czech car now sports the latest in ŠKODA design with an updated front, new rear and broader range of wheels. The interior has also seen some significant refinement: There are new three-spoke steering wheels, fabrics and patterns for the seat covers, as well as new decorative trim for the dashboard. In terms of technical features, there have been numerous innovations: the Yeti will be the first ŠKODA model with an optional rear-view camera. There are many Simply Clever solutions and engine-transmission combinations.

Introduced in 2009, the ŠKODA Yeti is one of the most attractive and also most successful compact SUVs on the market. Its distinctive design language, high functionality, extremely spacious interior with compact exterior dimensions, top safety, and excellent value for money set the Czech all-rounder apart from the rest. The Yeti is fast becoming one of the most successful vehicles in its class. A total of over 288,700 ŠKODA Yetis have been sold to date (As of: 31st October 2013). In Europe, ŠKODA Yeti is one of the best-selling A-class SUVs, and is the clear leader in this segment in the Czech Republic.

ŠKODA sold around 87,400 Yetis in 2012 alone – an increase of 24% over the previous year. And in the first ten months of 2013, 67,300 Yetis have already been delivered to customers worldwide. The Yeti is currently one of the best-selling A-class SUVs in the European Union with a market share of 4.1%, underlining the Czech brand’s expertise in 4x4 vehicles. Including their 4x4 models, ŠKODA has achieved a total market share of approximately 3% of passenger cars sold in the EU.

As part of the 2018 growth strategy, ŠKODA is increasingly turning to international growth markets. The ŠKODA Yeti has been on the Russian market since the end of 2012, where local production is carried out in partnership with the Russian manufacturer GAZ Group at the plant in Nizhny Novgorod. The Yeti has even been sold in China since mid-2013, currently as an import model. At the end of 2013, a stretched version of the Yeti will be available on the Chinese market. The car will be produced locally with the partner Shanghai Volkswagen.
The most comprehensive model campaign in ŠKODA’s corporate history is continuing in force with the two variations of the Yeti. ŠKODA plans to increase sales globally to at least 1.5 million vehicles per year by 2018.
