In terms of design, the new Mercedes GLC SUV looks very athletic compared to its predecessor. Also, the model looks very elegant with its clean lines and curves. Overall, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV oozes premiumness without being big and bulky.
Furthermore, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV measures 4,716mm long, 2,075mm wide, and 1,650mm tall. This means the latest iteration of the SUV is 60mm longer, 21mm narrower, and 4mm lower than the model it replaces. Also, the newer model sports a 15mm longer wheelbase as well.
Stepping inside the new Mercedes-Benz GLC, the interior of the new SUV looks far more modern and mimics the interior of the latest-generation C-Class sedan with features such as a massive 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and an even bigger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Other noticeable features in the new Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV include wireless phone connectivity, a head-up display, a 15-speaker Burmester audio system, a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree surround-view camera, active brake assist, blind-spot assist, active lane-keeping assist, and many more.
In terms of powertrain, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC SUV comes with a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine is tuned to produce a healthy 254bhp and 400Nm of torque.
On the other hand, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d 4MATIC variant is powered by a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder diesel engine. However, this engine produces just 194.4bhp and 440Nm of torque. That being said, both these powertrain units feature a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). This ISG unit is capable of boosting both the powertrains with an additional 23bhp and 200Nm of torque.
It is also worth mentioning that both these variants of the new GLC SUV come equipped with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Additionally, the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system on the new GLC SUV is expected to significantly improve off-roadability and provide optimum traction under all weather conditions.
Performance-wise, the GLC 300 4MATIC is capable of sprinting to 100km/h in just 6.2 seconds while delivering a fuel efficiency of 14.72km/l. On the other hand, the GLC 220d 4Matic can achieve the same feat in 8 seconds and deliver a mileage of 19.47km/l.
