Friends,

Hyundai has planned to introduce i10 into Taxi fleet as for replacing the phased-out Santro.

Over the years the Hyundai Santro had gained popularity due to its affordable price, ease of use, low running cost and Hyundai’s wide spread sales and service network. Owing to this, the Hyundai i10 should be a natural upgrade for taxi permit owners, further strengthening Hyundai position in the taxi segment.

I dont know compared to toyota liva, tata indica vista how this hatchback would take the taxi fleets market now.
Or maybe to phase out the stock productions of i10's irde engines after grand launch this step taken.

Hyundai To Position i10 in Taxi Segment

Hyundai i10 to enter taxi market - this confirms now the exit of Santro from Hyundai's product line.

Hyundai plans to introduce a stripped-out trim for the i10, sans an AC and power steering; will come with optional CNG kit.

The i10 will initially be introduced in taxi markets in metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bengaluru. The decision also comes at a time when close to 7,500 taxi permits will be up for taking, over a six-month period in Mumbai.

Re: Hyundai To Position i10 in Taxi Segment

Nice move by Hyundai. but it is only in petrol and not in diesel. How come it can be a click in taxi segment. Hyundai must think of sellling Xcent for taxi fleet which has a diesel engine. Only then it works out.

i10 engine sound resonating??

Hi everyone!
I did a test drive of i10 (1.1L irde2 version). I loved the car, but missed the 1.2 Kappa engine. My budgets doesn’t permit me to go for Grand i10.

Well, I noticed a strange thing that could force me steer clear from i10. When driving at low RPM, low speed (>= 50kmph) at high gears (AC ON), the sound of the engine was resonating and partly deafening my ears. Like, when we go to high range, our ears get partially blocked right? The same feeling.

Once I did a gear down and floored the accelerator, and shifted up, this was gone. I returned to low rpm, low speed again, and the phenomenon came back alive.

Most of the time, I would be driving in < 2000 rpm to get better mileage. So this could become an issue.
Has anyone noticed this?

By the way, we (few friends and I) had noticed the same thing in rear seat of Ford Figo (petrol).
