Thank you for your sincere advice.
Sirji what is 2 part primer, may I ask? Never heard of it.
And most important: Where/how can I buy it?

Dear brother, you can get any automotive paint mixing shop in your city. photos attached. You can see my hand soiled with paint I thought it will go with NC thinner. NC thinner unable to clean it then I tried special thinner no luck, went to home cleaned with hot water along with steel wool which is used to clean utensils along with vinegar no luck. Paint remained for one month even after that some paint on nails. So so strong. Red tube is ready mix putty. I will brief entire procedure soon.

Went to the retail shop for engine oil for my XUV500. I was very surprised to see bucket of engine oil just like truck style.
This is the first time in my life I have purchased" bucket"of oil for my car. And it feels good and great and very much stylish.
I Feel like a truck owner, and it reminds me of all those tv advertisements of High mileage bharat petroleum engine oils etc in which a sardar ji is holding up a 15 litre bucket and praising the average of his truck.

Mahindra has changed the packing it seems. Note that this oil is made by Shell under licence from Mahindra.

Surprisingly, no mention of grade anywhere.

(ex) Mahindra dealer here was infamous for treating XUV owners and Maxitruck owners alike just like a commercial truck guy.[lol]

Note that this oil is made by Shell under licence from Mahindra.
Often times, it's the other way around. Mahindra guy goes to Shell and ask for their best OEM quality oil and custom label for bulk orders (like AliBaba) [:D]. At service centre, the barrel would read probably Shell Helix Ultra Professional or Rimula. All customer care contacts and manufacturing and marketing details mentioned on the bucket is Shell's only.

Yes, same case is with the plastic container packing. No mention anywhere no matter where you look!!
I don't know why they want to keep it a secret. I think they want exclusivity, and don't want the customer to read the specs and purchase the same from outside like Castrol etc. This was the exact reason I kept on sticking with Feo because I was not sure of the specs and didn't want to ruin my engine.
Its 15W40 BTW. Pretty thick oil. Considering todays norm of 5W30 in almost all diesel and many petrol cars, and 0w20,0w16 in Maruti petrols.

Maybe derived from chemical X [lol].

By grade, it's highly likely to be Shell Rimula. I used to ask for Scorpio oil to avoid unnecessary questions/debate at the shop [evil]

Engine oil leak in my XUV500 from rear cam cover, and DIY repair

For the last few years I had been noticing engine oil leakage near the head gasket area in my XUV. I discovered it myself during routine inspection of engine bay area. I pointed it out to the SA in ASS during next routine service. They just tightened the (already correctly tightened) bolt holding the cover in place. That did not stop the oil leak at all. Despite of repeated reminders in subsequent services ASS staff shrugged off the problem as minor, and tried to scare me by saying that "lots of parts will have to be removed to access the head gasket where the leak is present". I believed them as I had very little knowledge at that time, and it appeared that the head gasket is leaking and since the leak was minor, I did not pursue it further fearing that dismantling so many engine parts( including intercooler and its attachments) might create new niggles and rattles etc.
But this oil leak remained in my mind always, and I tried to find the solution myself. During research and analysis I realised the leak is NOT from the head gasket but from rear cam plug/cover, and no large scale dismantling of engine parts is required .In fact that cover is fully removable and its designed that way only as an inspection window !
I suspected that the O-ring inside the cam cover is defective causing the oil leak. Since this reduced a lot of burden on my mind ,I went about changing it myself at home as a DIY project. But I was not sure of the results. This 2021 Diwali I had a window of 6 hours to complete my DIY.

Excellent DIY.
I had that leak too, I guess the ASC just opened it, applied some Gasket sealer and the leak went away. That was a couple of services ago.

You were lucky. Your ASC was good.
Maybe its common problem in XUV.I did not apply any gasket sealant. If the leak recurs I may have to do the same.

Once again a wonderful and detailed writeup along with pictures. And a note on the old part with date too.
Hats off for the tracking details.
But my question Sir,from the picture the old cover has no imperfections. Then what could have been the cause of the leak.
Puzzled

I think the O-ring is defective(manufacturing defect). I did not take any risk and change the whole plug/cover itself.

above post proves that this problem is seen in other XUVs too. I don't know how many.

Follow up of DIY repair (Engine oil leak in my XUV500 from rear cam cover)

I had that leak too, I guess the ASC just opened it, applied some Gasket sealer and the leak went away. .
After driving for about 100kms I rechecked and was relieved to find no oil seepage from the rear cam-cover. I will still keep a watch out for it whenever I open the engine bay. So far it appears that DIY is successful even without any use of gasket maker.
