MG India tops customer sales satisfaction – J.D. Power 2021 India SSI Study

On a 1,000-point scale, MG Motor India ranks highest with a score of 881, followed by Toyota 877 and Hyundai India 875, according to the J.D. Power 2021 India Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) study released on Wednesday. The study only examines the sales satisfaction in the mass market segment. Study was also conducted on Jeep, Skoda and Volkswagen consumers. However only the top three ranked OEMs are displayed.
The study measures the new-vehicle owners’ satisfaction with sales process based on six factors, listed in the order of their importance – delivery process (20%); dealer facility (18%); paperwork completion (17%); working out the deal (15%); sales consultant (15%); and brand website (14%).

JD Power said that the study is based on responses from 5,593 new-vehicle owners who purchased their vehicle from January through December 2021. The months of April-June 2021 were not considered on account of the severe pandemic situation in India, and the study was fielded from September through December 2021.

According to the study report, while more than 85% of shoppers are going online to do their vehicle research, there remains a strong preference for physical visits to showrooms for vehicle purchase. Shoppers are looking forward to getting back to the showrooms for their next vehicle purchase, as 68% said they would want to go through the entire journey in-person and only 20% were for a complete online experience.

“Online information search emerges as one of the key activities done by shoppers during their vehicle purchase journey, with 48% of survey respondents saying they watched YouTube videos or used search engines to gather information online. More than one-third (35%) said they reviewed social media advertisements as an online information source. However, offline sources, such as peer recommendation and test driving a vehicle, remain strong sources of information about the new-vehicle selection process,” it said.

JD Power conducts the India Customer Service Index Study in collaboration with NielsenIQ, a consumer intelligence business.

Sandeep Pande, lead of the automotive practice- India, NielsenIQ, said, “The critical issue to address here is the divergence of the preference. Essentially, customers are thinking at two levels. Firstly, the readiness of the dealers to seamlessly transition from one mode to another and, secondly, the robustness of the technology integration to handle high-value purchases.”

As the pandemic continues its fluctuating waves, a transition from online to offline is likely to make customers strike a balance between the two modes of purchase. “At the end of the day, all that the customers want to know is whether dealerships are able to anticipate their needs and fulfill them accordingly,” he said.

MG Motor India introduces online Car Finance Platform

1lfb5u2o_mg-epay_625x300_24_March_22.jpg
MG Motor India has introduced an online car finance platform called MG e-Pay, as an end-to-end solution to provide instant loan approvals. With this, MG aims to offer online car purchase solutions with flexible, seamless, transparent, and quick loan approvals. For this, MG has partnered with ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Prime, and Axis Bank. The SAIC-backed automaker says the new online car finance platform will simplify the purchase journey in five clicks and seven steps. The online finance journey will be available to both online and offline booked customers, including existing and new bank customers.

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer, MG Motor India said, “At MG, we are constantly innovating our digital platforms to stay connected with our customers and ensure the best-in-class experience. After effectively catering to over a million customers through the MG online buying platform, we intend to take a step further and simplify customer journey to avail suitable financing options for buying cars online.”

hib4vpo_mg-epay_625x300_24_March_22.jpg

MG Motor India says the new platform will provide a timely buying experience to its customers. The customer first needs to select the car and dealership of his choice, fill out the booking form and pay the booking amount. Once he/she receives pre-approved loan offers from his bank, the buyer can then proceed to apply for a loan by filling out the loan application. After receiving loan approval on the website and paying the down payment, the bank will disburse the loan in a stipulated period, and the customer will receive an MG vehicle at their doorstep.

Further, customers have access to pre-approved loan offers from multiple financiers and can customise the loan tenure, amount, and rate of interest. Moreover, MG says a customer can also track loan approval status and sanction letters in real-time. An online executive will assist the customer to get a holistic digital experience, by adding flexibility in online financing solutions, making the journey customer-centric.
