Woah.. Excellent initiative.

I have been getting emails from various manufacturer (of cars i currently own and the ones i owned previously). While i appreciate the fact that they have been making an outreach as to how the operation have been affected and that we should be looking out for each other, a statement like what MG motors has released is what would have comforted me the most, as a customer. I am not aware if any other manufacturer in India is doing this but wish they follow the suit!

question is when we have to maintain social distancing (sober way of saying quarantine) I wonder why MG motor is resorting to this ? why are they asking their employees to go meet people in the open. This doesn't fall under emergency/essential services. What are customers going to do with new cars when RTOs are being closed, and things under partial lockdown. its a good initiate but still don't call it responsible one.

MG Motor India registers sales growth; records increase in sales in March over February 2020
New Delhi, April 1, 2020
: MG Motor India today announced that it has recorded a total retail sale of 1518 units in March 2020. This includes 116 units of ZS EV, the country’s first pure electric internet SUV, and 1402 units of the HECTOR.

Commenting on the sales performance during the month, Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India, said, “Both MG Hector and MG ZS EV have made a mark in the Indian car market. Despite supply chain disruption globally, MG Motor continues to serve its customers. In February, our sales were impacted due to the disruption, while the situation improved during March before the lockdown was announced, resulting in the shutting down of our manufacturing plant.”

“Our current focus is on the health and well-being of our employees and their families, as well as the society at large. In this pursuit, we have also announced INR 2 crore grant towards procuring gloves, masks, medicines, ventilators, and beds; and are working closely with the local administration in Gurugram and Halol (Vadodara) to support their requirements,” Mr. Chaba added. Despite the ongoing situation, the carmaker has assured its employees that there would be no layoffs and all payments to suppliers and vendors alike would be completed on time.

The carmaker, which initiated the ‘Disinfect and Deliver initiative to sanitize cars and ensure a near-zero contact with customers, before the lockdown was imposed, has decided to formalize this as a permanent process across the company after the lockdown is lifted.

With zero stock of BS-IV units of the HECTOR across its dealerships and its factory, the carmaker has recently started production of BS-VI variants, however, it currently has very low BS-VI inventory at its dealerships and its manufacturing facility in Halol.
