MG Hector variants and the features it offers – Which variant is best buy?

Now that’s quite challenging, as Hector comes in four trims and three engine options, adding up to a total of 11 variants. Let’s quickly go through all the options to identify the Hector variant that’s best for you.

Engine options: Hector offers one diesel, one turbo-petrol and one petrol-hybrid engine option. The 2.0-litre diesel engine is the same FCA-sourced unit that can also be seen on Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier.

MG Hector 7 seater launch by Mar 2020 – To take on Mahindra XUV500

mg-hector-7-seater-launch-price-india-3.jpg

MG will be introducing a 7-seater variant of the Hector by March 2020. MG might not call it a full-fledged 7-seater but it has confirmed that there will be 3-row variant of the Hector coming into the country by early 2020. This 3-row variant will have same external dimensions as that of the current 5-seater variant. It is to be noted that the Hector is based on the Baojun 530 SUV and the Chinese SUV is already available in both a 5 and 7 seat variant. Launch of the 7 seater variant will come at the same time when MG also updates its engine line up to meet BS6 norms.

Though I am sad to watch Harrier fail but one cant stop appreciating MG Motors to bring SUV manufacturers to their senses.
I am not sure if #Harrier will fail, there are some things in its favour -

- Looks are definitely better than #Hector
- Steering fix needs to be done asap to make it heavy at higher speeds, its bit dangerous now
- Has advantage of manual switches too, while quite few feel is a risk in Hector
- Lesser lag issues as compared to Hector (as per many reviews)
- Can add panoramic roof & its game on

Seems like it has crossed the 12000 mark now. It is a very commendable achievement considering the overall market turmoil the automotive industry is in and more so ever they are a new entrant in India. Very eager to read some ownership reviews from anyone in the forum !

Wont the waiting bookings result in cancellation when 1) waiting period is more than the buyer is ready for and/or 2) other products like Seltos or Harrier becomes readily available?

MG Hector official 60 percent buyback scheme – How it works

mg-hector-buyback-scheme-details-2.jpg

MG Motor has looked into all potential doubts that customers may have about a new product and has launched special schemes to allay such fears. For example, customers’ apprehensions about quality are being allayed with industry-first 5 years/unlimited km warranty, 5 years/unlimited km road side assistance and 5 labour-free service. For concerns about the vehicle’s resale value, MG has launched its buyback program with assurance of 60 per cent buyback value after 3 years. However, there are certain conditions to make this work.

The MG Hector has received a pretty good response from buyers across India and the company has already received more than 12,000 bookings till date. Prices for MG’s debut vehicle in India start from Rs. 12.18 lakhs for the base petrol variant and go all the way up to Rs. 16.88 lakh for the top end diesel variant. Interestingly, more than 50% bookings of the MG Hector are for the petrol variants and 70% among that comes for DCT equipped models. The top end variants of the Hector are in more demand as can be seen in these pictures below, which shows Instagram user techtraveleat taking delivery of his MG Hector. Bookings for MG Hector to be discontinued

MG launched the Hector last month in India and the SUV has turned out to be a big hit for the company. So much so that now, MG Motors has decided to stop taking bookings of the Hector till further notice. The decision has been taken as the manufacturer received over 21,000 bookings since the SUV was launched which is much more than what the manufacturing plant is capable of producing right now. MG Motors currently has a production capacity of around 2,000 units a month but seeing the immense demand, the production capacity will be ramped up soon.
