FireShot Capture 534 - Mercedes-AMG unveils PureSpeed open-top roadster limited to 250 units_ ...png

Mercedes-AMG has finally launched the first vehicle in its ultra-exclusive, high-cost "Mythos" series, named the PureSpeed. This open-top two-seater roadster is inspired by the German company's iconic vintage race cars and Formula 1.The design seems to be based on the firm's SL convertible, although Mercedes has not explicitly confirmed this. Here's everything we know about the four-wheeler.

The PureSpeed showcases a unique design, replacing the traditional Mercedes grille with a streamlined, grille-less shark-nose appearance on the front bumper. The lower grille features a white-painted AMG logo. The car ports a halo bar structure instead of a windshield, similar to those seen on F1 cars.Furthermore, flying buttresses behind the seats seem inspired by the 300 SLR, that Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson used to win the 1955 Mille Miglia.

The paintwork of the PureSpeed transitions from Le Mans Red to Graphite Gray, a nod to the car that won the 1924 Targa Florio. The vehicle incorporates carbon fiber aero components on its lower section, enhancing aerodynamics, a facility learned from the Mercedes-AMG One hypercar.Carbon wheel covers have also been added for superior airflow around the wheels and better brake cooling.

AMG Chairman Michael Schiebe described the Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed as offering "the most direct way to experience performance and driving pleasure."He emphasized that the car is "radically open," with neither a roof nor windscreen separating passengers from their surroundings.Schiebe also highlighted that exterior elements such as the HALO create a Formula 1 feeling.

While Mercedes did not provide details about the PureSpeed's powertrain, speculation suggests it might get the twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 from the SL63.This could be in either its 577hp base form or an 805hp E Performance guise. The brand plans to limit production of this exclusive model to just 250 units, available only to "the most dedicated Mercedes‑Benz enthusiasts and collectors."
