j4vi0858_get-your-bold-edge-with-the-baleno-from-nexa_625x300_02_September_21.png

Maruti Suzuki India has announced that its premium hatchback, Baleno, has crossed the 1 million or 10 lakh units sales milestone in India. First launched in October 2015, the Baleno has completed 6 years in the Indian market, which effectively makes it the fastest premium hatchback to cross the one million-unit sales mark. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno continues to be one of the best-selling models in both, the carmaker's model line-up, as well as the passenger vehicle segment. In fact, the company sells an average of over 13,000 units of the Baleno every month, holding a 25 per cent market share in the premium hatchback space. In comparison, rivals Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz account for a monthly average of nearly 6,000 units and 5,000 units, respectively.

Maruti Suzuki sells over 13.5 Lakh vehicles in 2021:
  • Suzuki has sold over 13.5 lakh vehicles in 2021 over 1.5 Lakh more than previous years takes the Numero Uno position in the Indian Car Market. They have been no 1 OEM for really long time. Maruti is synonymous to a car to an average Indian.
  • Suzuki had a sub par growth of 12% when the market grew by over 26% over previous year.
  • Thus, it was evident that Suzuki was bound to loose Market share. In 2020, when Suzuki commanded 50% Market share, the story was different in 2021. The OEM lost over 5.5% share, coming down to 44.6%. Incidently Suzuki was most to cede marketshare in 2021

Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 430,668 units during Q3 FY 2021-22, lower than 495,897 units in the same period, previous year.

In the domestic market, the sales stood at 365,673 units in the Quarter, against 467,369 units in Q3 FY21.

Press Release:
The Board of Directors of Maruti Suzuki India Limited today approved the financial results for the period Q3 (October-December) FY 2021-22.

Highlights: Q3 (October-December), FY 2021-22

The Company sold a total of 430,668 units during the Quarter, lower than 495,897 units in the same period, previous year. Production was constrained by a global shortage in the supply of electronic components because of which an estimated 90,000 units could not be produced. In the domestic market, the sales stood at 365,673 units in the Quarter, against 467,369 units in Q3 FY21. There was no lack of demand as the company had more than 240,000 pending customer orders at the end of the Quarter. Though still unpredictable, the electronics supply situation is improving gradually. The Company hopes to increase production in Q4, though it would not reach full capacity.

In the Quarter, the Company clocked its highest ever exports at 64,995 units as compared to 28,528 units in Q3 FY21. This was also 66% higher than the previous peak exports in any Q3.

During the Q3 FY 2021-22, the Company registered Net Sales of INR 221,876 million compared to that of INR 222,367 million in the same period previous year.

Despite cost reduction efforts, due to lower sales volume, high commodity prices and lower non-operating income on account of mark-to-market impact, the Net Profit in this Quarter was INR 10,113 million compared to INR 19,414 million in the same period previous year.

Highlights: 9M (April-December), FY 2021-22

The total vehicle sales during the nine month period (Apr-Dec’21) were at 1,163,823 units. This includes domestic market sales of 993,901 units and exports of 169,922 units. In the corresponding period previous year, the Company registered a sale of 965,626 units comprising 905,015 units in domestic market and 60,611 units in the export market.

During this period (9M FY 2021-22), the Company logged a Net Sales of INR 582,841 million compared to INR 436,035 million in the same period previous year.

In this period (9M FY 2021-22), the Company made a Net Profit of INR 19,274 million as against INR 30,636 million in the same period previous year.

Maruti Suzuki Crosses 10 lakh CNG Vehicles Sales Milestone

Media_Release_Maruti_Suzuki_sells_record_1_million_S_CNG_vehicles_cumulatively_2_853878ed37.jpg
Maruti Suzuki has announced a new sales milestone with 10 lakh CNG cars sold in India a little over a decade after it launched its first CNG cars. Maruti has one of the most extensive CNG model line-ups with private buyers able to pick up models from the entry-level Alto to the seven-seat Ertiga. The CNG line-up also extends towards fleet buyers with models such as the Wagon R, Dzire (second-gen) and Ertiga also retailed under the Tour brand to fleet operators.

Commenting on the achievement of the new sales milestone, Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “We are humbled by the appreciation and positive response received by our S-CNG offerings. As a Company, our aim is to offer safe, reliable, clean, technologically advanced and environment friendly vehicles to our customers.”

A break up of the carmaker's cumulative sales reveals that the financial year (FY) 2021-2022 has been one of its best so far with a little over 2 lakh CNG vehicles sold as of February 2022. The cumulative figure stood at 7.98 lakh units at the end of FY 2020-21.

The growth of CNG sales could be attributed to a number of factors including Maruti's growing CNG vehicle portfolio, the government's initiative to make the fuel more widely available and the promise of lower running costs as compared to a petrol car. For a city like Mumbai, the price for petrol currently stands at ₹ 109.98 per litre with CNG in comparison costing ₹ 66 per kilo.

“Today, there are already over 3,700 CNG stations making CNG more accessible to people. With Government's target to reach 10,000 CNG stations across the country in the next few years, we expect the demand for CNG vehicles to remain robust,” Ayukawa added.

Maruti's focus on offering the option of a CNG across a major part of its line-up has been apparent in the past few months. The carmaker was quick to re-introduce the option in the second-gen Celerio while the updated Wagon R received the option from the start. The third-gen Dzire was the latest model to get the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit leaving models such as the Swift and the Vitara Brezza as the only Arena models currently lacking a factory CNG option.
