· Milestone achieved in just 6 months

· Eight BS6 compliant models that includes bestsellers from Maruti

· Aligned with Government’s vision of green and sustainable mobility

image003.jpg
New Delhi, October 4, 2019:
Maruti Suzuki India Limited has set a new milestone with the sales of over 2 lakh BS6 compliant vehicles. The sales milestone has been achieved in just six months of launch of the first BS6 compliant vehicle. Maruti Suzuki launched its BS6 range with Alto 800 and Baleno, in April 2019, almost one year before the government stipulated timeline of April 2020. The complete range of Maruti Suzuki BS6 compliant petrol models now includes industry best sellers: Alto 800, Baleno, WagonR (1.2 L), Swift, Dzire, Ertiga and the recently launched XL6 and S-Presso.

Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “We thank customers who have opted for our BS6 range of vehicles. We believe that mass adoption is one of the most important factors for success of any new technology. Offering eight BS6 compliant petrol vehicles in the mass segment, much ahead of timeline, has helped us to reach this technology to a larger customer base.”

He added, “Early introduction of the BS6 range represents our commitment to Government of India’s vision for clean and green environment.”

The BS6 compliant petrol vehicles will lead to a substantial reduction of nearly 25% in Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions.

The BS6 compliant petrol vehicles can run on BS4 petrol also. The BS6 petrol cars from Maruti Suzuki have been extensively tested with BS4 fuel and there is no operational concern.

There is a huge potential for providing latest driving and professional with digital skills to Haryana youth to enhance their employability and level school.

With this partnership of HSDM and IDTR, approximately 800 youths will be skilled in first phase.

Salient features of the training:

o Maruti Suzuki’s IDTRs at Bahadurgarh and IDTR Rohtak will train 400 candidates each.
o The training will be organized immediately and will be completed by March 2020.
o The cost of training these 800 candidates will be borne by Haryana Skill Development Mission.
o Also, the Haryana Government will bear the cost of obtaining driving license for these trainees.
o The IDTRs will also assist the candidates to apply for passport to make them more employable.

Background

All New Maruti YNC Prototype Production Begins, New-Gen Celerio?

In a move towards offering a wider range of purchasing options for the budget and first-time buyers, Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch a new generation Celerio in the domestic market. It is expected to go on sale towards the end of this year and we can exclusively reveal that the production of the prototypes has commenced at Maruti Suzuki’s manufacturing facility.

Internally codenamed YNC, the second generation Celerio will be a complete makeover both inside and out compared to the existing model. The monthly volumes of the Celerio have not been great in recent times and last year, nearly 71,000 units of the Celerio were sold with a massive Year-on-Year decline of 30 per cent.

The top-end variants are expected to offer a large SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity along with other new features. The structure of the new-gen Celerio will also comply with stringent crash test and pedestrian standards. It will be interesting to see the changes it bears when the test mules are caught on camera.

Maruti Suzuki Shifts Production Focus To Small Cars That Are Driving Sales

India's largest carmaker has posted decline in production numbers at the beginning of the year. Maruti Suzuki rolled out 179,103 units in January 2020 as compared to 183,064 units which were manufactured in January 2019 which is a decline of 2.1 per cent. The shift in production trend is in-line with the sales response in respective segments. Mini and compact cars were the growth drivers in terms of sales in the last month and the utility vehicle and compact sedan segment remained under pressure. Same has reflected in the order books as well, as the company has produced more of small cars in January 2020, cutting down the production of UVs and compact sedans.
