Mahindra Thar 5-Door has been spied testing several times across India. The enthusiasts who’ve held back purchasing a Thar owing to its lack of family-car-like practicality can finally re-consider owning one. Launching the Thar 5-Door has also become a need of the hour since its rivals are all set with Force Gurkha 5-Door and Maruti Suzuki Jimny. Mahindra is still silent about its developments, but spy images make quite a few things clear:
- The engine and transmission choices will remain the same but offer an enhanced power output.
- There’s expected to be a single roof option which is a plastic hard-top possibly with removable panels.
- Launch is expected to happen in the first-half of 2023. Prices will be nearly a lakh rupee more than Thar 3-Door.
- There’ll be subtle exterior changes feature-wise like squarish wheel-arches, new alloys, bigger high mounted stop lamp etc.
- Second-row space will be certainly better than 3-Door. Equipment levels will be similar apart from changes like larger infotainment, second-row vents, A-Pillar grab-handles etc.
