M&M, Ford jointly to explore collaboration on electric vehicles.

The joint statement issued by the company stated that teams from both companies will collaborate and work together for a period of up to three years.

The joint statement issued by the company stated that teams from both companies will collaborate and work together for a period of up to three years. Any further strategic cooperation between the two companies will be decided at the end of that period
The scope of the agreement will allow Ford and Mahindra beyond Mobility programs, connected vehicle projects, electrification to product development, sourcing and commercial efficiencies, distribution within India; improving Ford’s reach within India and global emerging markets and thereby helping Mahindra’s reach outside of India
The memorandum of understanding signed between Ford & Mahindra will also explore ways of making electrification affordable in the times to come.

Ford is likely to cease independent operations in India, will form a new unit in India in which it will hold a 49 percent stake, while Mahindra will own 51 percent.

The deal would make Ford the latest automaker to pare back its interests in India. At the end of 2017, General Motors Co downsized its Indian operations and stopped selling cars locally,

There has been talks about this at the time of GM pull out. The question is who is next. Fiat also stopped and if not for their engine unit they would have left already. Once bs6 comes in Fiat will shut shop completely.
Next in line will be Renault Nissan. VW group may hang around selling premium cars assembled but their upcoming made in India cars will flop
Kia is likely to succeed because Indians love cars from Asian manufacturers.
Citroën will be dead on arrival so will be Chinese companies.
