Hi All,
I am looking for a new bike for my serious touring purposes.Offcourse will ride the bike in city as well but it will be 80% touring & 20% city usage.

Should be a new bike
Budget - Maximum 3 Lakhs (can stretch to additional 20K)
Reliability is critical to me (Currently own a 2009 Honda Unicorn which hasn't given any problems till date)
Good ASS
Comfortable for long rides.
Preferably cruiser or a regular bike of big engine capacity.
No sports bike - can cause back pain as i already have.

I took test ride of both Interceptor & Dominar & liked both & below are my likes n dislikes on both
Interceptor 650 -
ASS is an issue (i feel not sure).
Reliability - I will keep the atleast for 5 years.

Dominar 400
Modern engine - getting it repaired while on tour could be a concern.
Maintenance costs
Re sale value after 5years

Thanks In Advance,

I would vote for Dominar as it feels more advanced and modern product. Would also be more reliable than RE for sure. Also the new model is superb with the USD present.

I would say give a good look to the Himalayan instead of interceptor for touring. The Himalayan is purpose built for that very reason. And the current lot is quite reliable.

If not bought already, wait for the upcoming KTM 390 ADV. I dont know when it will come, but lot of press around it since this year.
Definitely will be better then RE 650 & others

Have you Test Driven both these vehicles? If not Test drive it back to back to feel the difference of each and every bike's character.

In my opinion go in for the Royal Enfield Interceptor.

If I were you I would go for the RE Interceptor, why ??
1) Interceptor has won a lot of praise for it's engine
2)I am not really sure of how the bike will age ( Rattles, smoothness etc., )
3) The riding position will vary bike to bike - Please do test drive and decide
