One of the heroes of the Mercedes-Benz family has broken cover overseas in what appears to be snippets from the car’s brochure. The new Mercedes-Benz SL roadster has broken cover ahead of its reveal at the 2012 Detroit motor show in January. In keeping with the overall silhouette of the outgoing SL, the new model gets Benz’s wider grille implanted with a bold three-pointed star.
There’s also a prominent side vent in the front guards that kicks off two prominent crease lines flowing into the doors. With seating for two and an interior that borrows themes from the smaller SLK – the two share much in the way of basic design themes – the new Mercedes-Benz SL is expected to be offered with the usual array of V6 and V8 engines, including a potent twin-turbocharged AMG model. Also expect a V12 as the flagship of the $230,000-plus range.
