Sorry Raj for bumping to your thread.

Well guys , this time i will be doing a trip on my Hawk , to a place called Payyanur Kerala, in Feb 2012.

The tentative date is Feb 14-Feb 17.

After attending a marriage in mangalore, we will be travelling to Kerala via Kasargod.

So guys please let me know, which part of Kerala i will be in, and what all places near Payyanur can i cover in 2 or 3 days.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Raj, Nice thread, i was looking for a place to stay near the backwater area in Allepey and Mukesh suggested to check with you - actually planning a drive with the XUV starting this saturday [:)]

I was looking for a cottage to stay for couple of days closer to the back water area, but strictly not the luxury commercial places, it has to be a offbeat secluded place - non touristy if u see what i mean. I dont need any luxuries basic cottage will do and i can travel if its little far - but look to be closer to nature ..can you recommend any place? thanks in advance..

Try and contact the folks on the following link. Thevercad Alleppy Riverside Homestay We as a family are originally from Kainakary in Alleppey and moreover, the home stay here I've mentioned is the actual home of a cousin of mine and it goes back many generations right from the start. The place is calm and peaceful and easy to reach. Its not touristy and guess it might be the place you are looking for. Please do contact and speak with them before making plans as I dont know whether they are still operating. Its been years since I've seen any of them or been in touch.

Ezhimala Naval Academy, which is Asia's largest and Worlds third largest Naval academy, is also near to Payyannur.
If going to Kannur Fort, you can visit Payyambalam Beah as well.

3)rajarajeswari temple,at taliparamba 20 kms from payyannur
Its not Rajarajeswari, Its Rajarajeswara temple. Have seen many people saying it the other way.[:)]

Recently had been to Payyanur on Santro Xing of my cousin, while at Mangalore.

Took the route via Ullal-Manjeshwar-Kasargod.

It was a 110 kms drive, had been to a relatives house.

But didn't visit any places.

Will be visiting once again on my Hawk, this time but looking for many other places.

@ Smooth Rider: Are all the places you mentioned are nearer or in one direction.

I am thinking of Bekal Beach & Kovalam beach.

Will it be farther from Payyanur.

Is the Anantheshwar temple nearer?

This time we are looking for more of sight seeing places than temples, please suggest accordingly.

Any decent places for homestay would be good.

The road to payyanur was superb.
