Re: Fiat Serious About Launch of Chrysler and Jeep Brands in India

* Fiat will get a new small car in the B+ segment
* To launch 4 new products between 2013 and 2014
I think these are their main priority now :-)

Fiat-Chrysler Group Unveils Roadmap for India

Today Fiat Group Automobiles India Private Limited (FGAIPL) announced a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening its position in the Indian market. These initiatives include the official launch of the Jeep® brand in India. 9 new / significantly refreshed models by Fiat and Jeep brand in the next few years with the introduction of the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee will be imported towards the end of 2013. Jeep vehicles will be sold via a Jeep dealer network that will leverage the service and parts support offered by an expanding Fiat dealer network. The company will expand its domestic production to include the new Fiat Linea classic edition and the new Fiat Punto edition.

“Our vision for India will revolve around a three-pronged strategy,” said Mike Manley, Chief Operating Officer for Asia and President and CEO – Jeep Brand. “First, introduction of new vehicles that will soon include the legendary Jeep brand. Second, the expansion of our independent dealer network and, finally, strong marketing initiatives that will continue to improve our awareness and brand perception in the market.”
Mike Manley visited Mumbai to meet with dealers and announce details of the new product and production plans for the market, which includes the expansion of the dealer network from the current shared TATA FIAT dealers to approximately 120 independent dealers by 2013. Part of the dealer experience will include Fiat Caffe, which will offer customers the opportunity to learn about FIAT’s heritage and also showcase technological innovations from the Fiat Group portfolio across the world. The service centers within these dealerships will be another important touch point for consumers, since the goal is to replicate international service standards in India. Jeep vehicles will be distributed at launch in metropolitan cities through exclusive outlets utilizing the infrastructure created by the FIAT exclusive dealers.

“Initial interest from the investors has proved to be strong. Therefore, we will be able to establish 120 independent dealers by 2013,” said Enrico Atanasio, Managing Director of Fiat Group Automobiles India Private Limited. “We are optimistic about our prospect for growth in the Indian car market, which grew 12 percent in 2011 and is rapidly becoming one of the major markets in the world. With the launch of the Jeep brand, new Fiat products, an expanding dealer network and upcoming marketing initiatives, we will be in a strong position to capitalize on this growth.”

Jeep coming to India in 2013 with the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee

Well it looks like Fiat along with its partner Chrysler plan to bring Jeep into India with the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Grand Cherokee [clap]. Had read in the news bit of Zigwheels in the paper today that the speculation for the price range for the Wrangler might be 28 lakhs and Grand Cherokee at 40 lakhs.

Apart from that as has already mentioned by bharathj85 Abarth might be making its debut next year along with 9 new models from the Fiat group looks like an exciting time for the market next year. [clap]

Re: Jeep Wrangler & Cherokee Launch Confirmed For End-2013

The problem I see with jeep Cherokee and wrangler is that they will be sold has cbu units hence will be expensive , and iam not very sure if jeep Cherokee can give a fight to landrover free lander , Audi q5 , BMW x3 .
Wrangler is a superb vehicle but again because of the cbu route it will fall in the price bracket of Audi q3 , BMW x 1 .and upcoming Volvo .

Actually bro both the Jeep Cherokee and Wrangler are a kick ass products back in US and Wrangler will be a very good option for the people who are looking to buy a good open Jeep. And i guess Wrangler won't even have a close competitor when it launches.

And coming back to Cherokee, i guess you might have seen this beast in real since you travel a lot overseas for your work. And if in case you have not then bro this SUV has a killer look when compared to Q5, X3, and Free Lander. Secondly what i think the price for Cherokee will start lower than the Q5 and X3 and will go higher depending on how many engine options they launch in India. Also if i am not wrong Q5, X3 comes with an AWD whereas the Cherokee comes with a proper 4wd and is a very good off-roader.

Cherokee has a powerful engine, more GC, more cargo space.

And the Cherokee comes with 3 engine options:
1. 3.6L v6
2. 5.7L V8
3. 6.4L V8

Agreed but then in that particular segment there is something called brand perception which I think Germans have more . And there is no question both are superb products I have never sat in the wrangler but I have sat in the grand Cherokee in Doha last year .

Yes that 's true this is where Cherokee might lag behind and the other thing which might go against the Cherokee is if they don't launch a diesel version in india.

Re: Jeep Wrangler & Cherokee Launch Confirmed For End-2013

INDIA BOUND JEEP B-SEGMENT AND C-SEGMENT SUVS TO FEATURE 1.4 LITER PETROL AND 1.6 LITER DIESEL ENGINES

Mike Manley, the Chief Operating Officer for Fiat-Chrysler, in his recent visit to India, had stated that the Jeep range of compact SUVs could use existing Fiat platforms. The first hint of the Jeep compact SUVs sharing a majority of their parts with Fiat cars lies in the engines that these SUVs will use. The Jeep SUV models will use the 1.4 Liter turbo petrol engine and the 1.6 Liter Fiat Multijet turbo diesel engine. Currently, the Fiat 1.4 Liter petrol engine is available in two forms in India, in naturally aspirate guise and in turbocharged guise. In naturally aspirated form, this 1.4 Liter petrol engine is used in the Fiat Linea, the Grande Punto, the Tata Indica Vista and the Manza. In turbocharged form, the engine is used in the Fiat Linea.

On the Jeep compact SUVs, this engine will be used in turbo petrol form and that’s a good thing given that turbo petrols are the future of petrol engines. The 1.6 Liter Fiat Multijet engine, which p0wers a range of Fiat cars globally, will make an appearance in India next year. The 2014 Fiat Linea will use the 1.6 Liter Fiat Multijet diesel motor. A year later, this engine will be used by Jeep for the B-Segment compact SUV. Although Jeep will share parts and car platforms with Fiat, the American SUV brand will retain the rugged appeal that SUVs under the Jeep brand feature.

Re: Jeep Wrangler & Cherokee Launch Confirmed For End-2013

Yesterday we shared with you all the 11 upcoming models from Fiat and today we talk about the aspirational JEEP brand that will be brought to Indian by Fiat very soon.

With as many as eight new launches which include 4 new models and 4 refreshes, Jeep is in no mood to play half-heartedly. Triggering off their Indian innings this year itself, Jeep will get as many as eight new launches in a span of 5 years.

Let’s walk through the actual plan:

Year 2013

This will be the most important year for the company since they will be kickstarting their Indian chapter and with high expectations, they will really have to be on their feet to deliver. This year JEEP will launch two new products in India – the macho Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee.

Wrangler will sit in the D-segment of SUVs along with Fortuner and others but since it will be brought in as a CBU initially, will be costlier. Grand Cherokee will sit over Wrangler and will be Jeep’s flagship here.

Wrangler: Second Half of 2013
Grand Cherokee: Second Half of 2013

Year 2014

Jeep has kept this year as blank in the slide without any products lined up. This might mean that they would strengthen their presence and possibly work on localizing both these and other upcoming products, more so, considering what you are about to read.

Year 2015

This would be the year where the masses would be able to own a JEEP! Jeep will launch its B segment SUV and we repeat when Jeep says SUV, it means an SUV and not a crossover or a compromise! We also have the details of the SUV which we will share a little later. So, if you have really been waiting for a proper SUV in the smaller segment, just start saving.

B-Segment SUV: Mid 2015
Year 2016

Jeep will start the year 2016 with a refresh of Wrangler and follow it up with Grand Cherokee’s facelift. But the most awaited product of the year would be the C-segment SUV which they have promised.

Wrangler Refresh: Beginning of 2016
Grand Cherokee Refresh: Mid 2016
C-Segment SUV: Mid 2016
Year 2017

Jeep will complete their current plan with refreshed models of their B-Segment SUV and C-Segment SUVs launched in the earlier times.

B-Segment SUV Refresh: Mid 2017
C-Segment SUV Refresh: Mid 2017
Together with Jeep, Fiat wants to play in a wider spectrum of around 40 percent of the market and with the kind of strategy they have unveiled, we already see a few competitors fretting!
