Re: Jeep Renegade compact SUV in India

What 10 Lakh with 2.0 diesel engine?. Seriously!! [surprise]. Plus option of complete offroading. All this sounds like a dream to me. Very excited to learn it and would be now keeping a hawk eye on it. If it comes out to be true, it will be like a fresh air in current disappointed scenario of banning of diesel engine in Delhi.

A big thumps up for Fiat and please do not change your mind in future. [thumbsup]

Re: Jeep Renegade compact SUV in India

While the Renegade 2.0 Diesel that’s been imported as a completely built unit (CBU) to the country carries a price of about 17.5 lakh rupees, adequate localization and local manufacture could push down the price to under 10 lakh rupees. At that kind of money, the Renegade could prove to be a great foil to the likes of the Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta.
In no way its is coming down to 10 lakhs for jeep renegrade even after some discounts also .It may come down to 14-15 lakh exshowroom price ,but with 10 lakh they will have line up from 10 lakh to 90 lakh for jeep SRT.in which case srt would and cherokee would not be VFM[;)]. through which only their profits will come.and OFF road enthusiastic will simply buy Thar crde and modify according to his needs.jeep will not come that cheap which is a sad thing for us[frustration] .https://www.google.co.in/search?q=enthusiastic&spell=1&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi5pZjN5IvKAhXQkI4KHY_2BFYQBQgZKAA

Re: Fiat Confirms Debut of JEEP Brand in India

"I made a mistake and brought a Jeep, don't you make a mistake and buy a Jeep yo!"

:D Can't help it but that keeps running in my mind when I see Jeep. I guess you must be knowing about that video by Tej.

Actually I do know about it but this does happen with our brands too here in India. It raises questions though about reliability, but, lets hope Jeep by now may have corrected their mistake and won't repeat it.

Jeep Renegade spied testing in India

Jeep Renegade testing in India – EXCLUSIVEBy

Jeep-Renegade-620x400.jpg

Jeep is making its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo with the launch of the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. But that is not all that is under their sleeve. Recently we caught the Renegade undergoing test in India. This compact SUV is being tested likely as a benchmark run for the new compact SUV that will launched sometime next year. The pictures were sent to us by our avid reader Rituraj.

With the Indian market getting more and more SUV crazy, it is the perfect opportunity for Jeep who specialize in only making SUV’s to jump in and possibly grab a large chunk of market share. After the launch of the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee this year at the Auto Expo, they are planning to develop and launch a smaller SUV, similar sized or smaller to the Renegade, designed specifically for the Indian market. There are also rumors that Jeep would like to use India as a global platform for the launch of such a vehicle.

Caught testing is the Jeep’s smallest offering globally, the Renegade. It is offered with a full option 4WD and comes with a host of engines the smallest being one from Fiat. This is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine and even a 2.0-litre diesel is being considered. With this compact SUV, Fiat will be looking at exporting it to the other markets from India itself. The Ranjangaon plant is undergoing expansion and Fiat will be looking at adding more production to it once the new compact SUV is launched. The Ranjangaon plant will become a major export hub for the Jeep brand, while Fiat will still majorly make products for the domestic market.

Fiat to re-enter Jeep market with Cherokee, Wrangler

its re-entry into the jeep market which is currently dominated by the Mahindras and the Tatas, Fiat India said it will roll out two models, including the iconic brand Cherokee and Wrangler next year.

The roll out will be part of the Italian auto major’s plans to introduce nine products, including new ones and variants, by 2016, Fiat-Chrysler Asia Pacific COO and President and Chief Executive for jeep brand at the Chrysler group Mike Manley said. Fiat, which currently sells only two car models, Punto and Lenea, has under 0.5 percent market share in the domestic auto market, though it has been one of the oldest foreign brands in India having entered here as early as in the 1950s.

Legendary SUV company Jeep today showcased the iconic Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016. These would we available at Fiat dealerships from mid 2016.

The Jeep brand is making its debut in India three years after the first spy shots of the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Grand Cherokee were seen online. Jeep's offerings will initially be imported into the country via the CBU way. The company sure knows when to strike the iron.

Jeep is looking to sell only 1,500-2,000 units in the first year through 15-30 existing Fiat dealerships in the largest cities. The company looks to launch the Jeep 551 C-SUV in India in 2017, and manufacture the same at Fiat's Ranjangaon plant. The company said its planning a $ 280 million investment in India.

The Jeep Cherokee SRT is powered by 6.4 litre engine that generates a whopping 475 BHP of Power and 644 Nm of Torque. Targetted against the likes of Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5M, this beefy SUV is expected to be offered with a similar price tag. The Cherokee will be offered in two variants - Limited and Summit.

The Wrangler would be offered in 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine that generates 275 BHP of Power and 359 Nm of Torque. It's Diesel version would be powered by 2.8 litre engine option that generates about 197 BHP of Power and 451 Nm of Torque.

To begin with, the Jeep badged vehicles would only be sold via 15-30 existing Fiat dealers located in about 15 larger cities.

Fiat has been testing the 1.4-litre MultiAir in India. This engine produces 165bhp of power and comes with a dual clutch transmission. The Italian automaker is testing this powertrain in India. Our sources confirm that the tests for MultiAir have been going on for a while, and we had reported about this last time as well.

The Fiat MultiAir engine will be used on the new Jeep 551. This new SUV will be manufactured in the company’s Ranjangaon plant and will be exported to different countries. Fiat will soon have the Jeep range officially launched in India.

Aren't they developing the 1.5 Multijet which will be powering the new C SUV to be manufactured in India? I was finally happy the linea/upgreaded linea will be getting this engine as the current 1.6 MJD attracts higher tax level.
