Press Release:
Jaguar TCS Racing travel to Diriyah, Saudi Arabia for the first two races of the 2021/22 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and for the second night race weekend in Formula E history.

Mitch Evans – who starts his sixth season with the British racing team – lines up alongside Sam Bird for his second season with Jaguar in Formula E. After achieving a podium and a win last time out in Diriyah, the formidable driver pairing start the season at a track where they have both been highly competitive in the past.

The Diriyah circuit provides an entertaining circuit for both the drivers and the fans. With high speed, challenging corners in sectors 1 and 2 and longer straights in the final sector there are plenty of opportunities for overtaking.

The duo will drive the Jaguar I-TYPE 5 under the lights in Diriyah, which has shown positive performance during official testing and will be central to the team achieving podiums, wins and fighting for the World Championship.

James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal: “At Jaguar TCS Racing there is great excitement to be starting season eight of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. After such a competitive season seven, we have been working hard as a team to put ourselves in a strong position this season and we can’t wait to finally go racing in our Jaguar I-TYPE 5 and start the fight for World Championship. With a new qualifying format there are undoubtedly things we are going to learn this weekend, but we are looking forward to the lights going green once again.”

Mitch Evans, Jaguar TCS Racing driver #9: “Last season we showed as a team exactly what we are capable of, and we are ready to do that again this year. It is my sixth year with the team and together we all have a real commitment to put the Jaguar TCS Racing team on the podium and be consistently winning races.”

Sam Bird, Jaguar TCS Racing driver #10: “Diriyah has always been a great track for me personally – I have won here multiple times and am very much focussed on doing the same again. I also have very fond memories as I secured my first win for the Jaguar TCS Racing team last time out. We all have a great determination to start strong after such a competitive season last year to ensure we are fighting for podiums, wins and the World Championship.”

Phil Charles, Jaguar TCS Racing Technical Manager: “Diriyah is a really interesting track for Formula E, there are a lot of elements that the drivers and the engineers have to perfect in order to compete at the front. The first two sectors are fast and flowing with multiple high-speed corners linked together, while the last sector has longer straights and a big braking event for the T18/19 chicane. The track has also recently been resurfaced. With the new surface, there is quite high potential for significant track evolution through the weekend. As a night race, the drop in temperature from the qualifying session to the race will also be key. It means Diriyah is a particularly tricky circuit but one that offers a challenge that Jaguar TCS Racing revels in.”

The inaugural E-Prix of season eight commences on the streets of Diriyah, Saudi Arabia at 20:00 local time on 28 and 29 January 2022.

Press Release:
Mitch Evans makes history for Jaguar TCS Racing as the first driver to win both races in a double-header weekend in Rome. He’s only the third driver in Formula E history to win an E-Prix on two consecutive days. The Italian capital is turning into a second home for Mitch Evans who has now won three Rome E-Prix.

Mitch Evans and Sam Bird lined up fourth and fifth on the grid respectively after a successful qualifying session saw both drivers compete in the quarter-final duel against each other. Mitch progressed to make his first visit to the semi-finals this season.

In the first ten minutes of the race, Mitch Evans made a decisive overtake on Jake Dennis to move into a podium position. He continued to execute a flawless drive, overtaking André Lotterer and Jean- Éric Vergne to take the lead of the Rome E-Prix. The New Zealander tussled with the front runners for a number of laps before a late safety car was deployed. A late and fearless ATTACK MODE strategy coupled with good efficiency enabled Evans to regain the lead of the race and take back-to-back victories on the streets of Rome.

Teammate Sam Bird, also had a strong race, and was set to score more valuable points for the team. Sam showed the exceptional pace of the Jaguar I-TYPE 5 before a collision while battling for position with Nick Cassidy forced him to retire in the final lap of the race.

Mitch Evans moves to fourth in the drivers’ standings, only nine points behind the leader, while Sam Bird sits in eleventh. Jaguar TCS Racing move to fifth in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship teams’ standings.

James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal: “A double win for Jaguar TCS Racing in Rome. Weekends like this are incredibly hard to achieve but it’s down to the huge effort from all of the team to deliver this historic weekend for Jaguar. Rome has been kind to us with five podiums and three wins in three years and it’s great to have our season back on track after such a strong performance from Mitch and the team. We know how competitive this championship is so we’ll take this momentum forward from Rome, keep working hard and keep building on our championship in Monaco.”

Mitch Evans, Jaguar TCS Racing driver #9: “This weekend has been a dream. I was hoping to come to Rome and get some solid points but a double win is just incredible. Yesterday was amazing but I knew it would be really hard to do repeat again today as these double-headers can be tricky. The Jaguar I-TYPE 5 has been just perfect. This is our third win here now and I’m going to take this incredible feeling and momentum into Monaco. It is time to celebrate!”

Sam Bird, Jaguar TCS Racing driver #10: “Amazing weekend for the team. To come away with two wins with Mitch is absolutely unbelievable. The race car was fantastic, and Jaguar TCS Racing have done a stunning job in the break to transform what was a difficult start into a winning formula. Congratulations to every team member involved and we look forward to Monaco.”

Press Release:
The 43-lap race provided gripping racing from start to finish. Sam Bird lined up on the front row of the grid after making it through to the qualifying Duels finals. The Brit topped Group B with a time of 1.05.975 before going on to beat the Avalanche Andretti of Jake Dennis and the NIO 333 of Dan Ticktum but was pipped by the Jaguar-powered Envision of Sebastien Buemi in the finals.

Mitch Evans lined up P9 on the grid after he just missed out on the Duels by six-thousands of a second and finished fifth in Group A.

With the lead frequently changing in an action-packed E-Prix and in an effort to save energy, Mitch was able to carve his way through the pack, carefully avoiding the carnage along the way. Sam Bird took the lead of the race at the Tempelhof circuit on four different occasions and both drivers worked together to maximise efficiency. In total there were eight different leaders but Mitch took the chequered flag, with Sam Bird just behind him. In an energy critical race where the tow effect is strong, the Jaguar TCS Racing team executed a perfect strategy and the superior pace and efficiency of the Jaguar I-TYPE 6.

Jaguar TCS Racing remain third in the 2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship teams’ standings, closing the gap to Tag Heuer Porsche to just 26 points.

James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal: “What a race! Our first 1-2 in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. With Sam on the front row and Mitch back in P9 we knew the race today would be all about a clever strategy. We needed to keep calm, work together and progress and that’s exactly what we achieved. Everyone put in a fantastic performance and these results don’t come without incredible effort from the whole team. It was an incredibly challenging race with the amount of overtakes and it was about making the right decisions at the right time, avoiding any issues and having a car that could achieve the result that we did today. I am so proud of all of the team, our first ever 1-2, some big points towards our championship campaign and we hope to score more solid points tomorrow. A 1-2 finish is something none of us will ever forget.”

Mitch Evans, Jaguar TCS Racing driver, #9: “It’s an incredible feeling to get back-to-back wins, particularly in Formula E where it’s so challenging. I needed a couple of good races and this is exactly what the team delivered today in Berlin. There is still a long way to go this season but the main thing is we’re back in the hunt. Both Sam and I are up there in the fight and we need to keep building on what we’ve achieved so far.”

Sam Bird, Jaguar TCS Racing driver, #10: “We’ve made history again today. It’s the best result Jaguar TCS Racing have ever achieved and it’s huge credit to all of the amazing people that work in this team. I feel like we’ve been working towards this for a while now but to get back-to-back double podiums feels incredible. We have a competitive package and it was very well executed by the team and we hope to fight for more points and podiums again tomorrow.”

Jaguar TCS Racing will compete in the ninth round of the 2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Monaco on 06 May 2023.
