All future Jaguars to have AWD option

All future Jaguar models will have the option of all-wheel drive, as this capability will be engineered into their architecture, said global brand director Adrian Hallmark.

“I can’t think of any model that wouldn’t benefit from not having the option of it,” said Hallmark at the launch of the XF and XJ 3.0 V6 all-wheel drive models, the first such models for Jaguar. Although the XF and the XJ have been developed as rear-wheel drive cars, Jaguar decided to respond to market demands from the U.S. and Canada for all-wheel drive cars, as these countries have regions where it snows a lot during winter.
Jaguar engineered the all-wheel drive system when it developed its new 3.0-liter V6 engine. For the moment, no other Jaguar engine will be offered with all-wheel drive technology due to the engineering costs versus return on investment. For the same reason, Jaguar’s all-wheel drive technology will not be offered for right-hand drive models in the UK, a market where demand for V6 petrol cars with all-wheel drive is small. However, on its future models, Jaguar will plan and engineer all-wheel drive technology from the beginning.

“At the moment, we can’t take the full grid of engines, models and drivetrains and tick every box and offer them all. We have to prioritise. In the future, we know what it takes to get all-wheel drive,” said Hallmark.

Interest in Jaguar F-type soars

Initial expressions of interest in the new Jaguar F-type are at the same level as the Range Rover Evoque at an equivalent stage, global brand director Adrian Hallmark has revealed.

Since its reveal at the Paris motor show in September, the F-type has prompted 75,000 people to contact Jaguar and ask for more information on the car. “That’s roughly the same as the Evoque at this stage,” said Hallmark, “but we’re aiming for less than 10 per cent of the Evoque’s volume.”

Hallmark said it was “too early to be definitive” in judging the F-type’s early success, but “look at the visits to ftype.com and the amounts of hits on YouTube and you can see it’s massive”.

He conceded that it was highly unlikely everyone asking for more information on the F-type was a potential buyer. “They might be 13 or 33, but what’s important is that 13-year-olds weren’t asking for more information on the XJ. “We’re getting in the psyche of buyers and potential buyers. The F-type is so important as now as a keystone for the brand.”

Arden is working on a visual package that will change the look of the convertible, but for now they’ve revealed these two teaser photos showing a sexy F-Type in classic British racing green.

The body kit for the Jag will include a body kit that will include a new front spoiler, some custom Arden Sportline 20-inch alloy wheels and even a pouncing cat for the nose of the car.

Jaguar to launch F-type

Jaguar Land Rover will showcase its legendary C-Type sports car at its showroom in Worli Mumbai from February 2. The Jaguar C-type is the car that brought the iconic British carmaker, now owned by Tata Motors, its first victory in the Le Mans 24-hour race.

The car will take part in the ‘Travel with Style’ Concours d’Elegance to be held in Mumbai on February 9 and 10.

In 2013, Jaguar plans to bring its new F-TYPE two-seat convertible sports car in India. The F-TYPE is a continuation of a sporting bloodline that stretches back 75 years and encompasses some of the most beautiful, thrilling and desirable cars ever built.

During the 1950s, Jaguar's founder Sir William Lyons sought to prove his cars were as fast and as strong as far more expensive rivals, with legends such as Sir Stirling Moss and Mike Hawthorn behind the wheel of the iconic C-Type and D-Type racers, JLR said in a statement.

The Jaguar C-Type that has arrived in India is the car in which Sir Stirling Moss won the 1952 Reims Grand Prix. In addition to this world-famous victory, it ran at the 1952 Monaco GP and in the hands of Moss – took victories at Boreham and Turnberry.

In 1951, the Jaguar C-Type won Le Mans at its first attempt, with a further victory in 1953. Its successor the D-Type took Le Mans wins in 1955, 1956 and 1957. Technical innovations such as the C-Type's disc brakes made their debut on Jaguars at Le Mans, and were rapidly adopted by car makers the world over.

Jaguar F-Type Named 2013 World Car Design of the Year

The new Jaguar F-Type has been awarded the 2013 World Car Design of the Year title, during a ceremony held at the 2013 New York International Auto Show.

Designed as a successor to the famous Jaguar E-Type, the F-Type has made the first steps towards achieving classic status by architecture. Conceived by Ian Callum, the two-door roadster was picked by the World Car of the Year jury members from an initial list of 43 vehicles.

The other two vehicles that entered the final were British grand-tourer Aston Martin Vanquish and Japanese mid-size sedan Mazda6. No less than 66 journalists from 23 countries have voted in the 2013 World Car Design of the Year based upon five design expert's recommendations.

"No design project has given me greater pleasure than the creation of the F-Type. It’s a project I’ve looked forward to from the moment I joined Jaguar, and it’s one that’s given my team and I great satisfaction. The F-Type is a sports car that is true to Jaguar’s design values – beauty of line and purity of form – and I’m honored that the World Car of the Year Design jury has recognized our work with this award," Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum said.
