Re: Jaguar’s New F-Type Sportscar Debuts in 2013

The Jaguar F-Type has been caught by our spy photographers.
Heavily influenced by the C-X16 concept, the roadster has a prominent grille, flush-mounted door handles and muscular rear fenders. There's also thin taillights, a center-mounted dual exhaust system and turbine-style wheels.
Jaguar has already confirmed the model will be offered with a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 380 PS (279 kW / 375 hp) and 460 Nm (339 lb-ft) of torque. There have also been reports that it could be available with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that develops up to 550 PS (405 kW / 542 hp).
The Jaguar F-Type will likely be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, before being launched in mid-2013.

Re: Jaguar’s New F-Type Sportscar Debuts in 2013

Jaguar is taking its still-in-development F-Type to the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month. Mike Cross, Jaguar's head of vehicle integrity, will be piloting the all-aluminum convertible up the hill, and we guess he'll probably have the 380-horsepower, supercharged V6 underhood that we'll see when the production car is introduced next year, though a V8 is also possible. We're just hoping that Jag sees fit to delete the F-filled camouflage on the model seen above and show us the car in all its glory.

Jaguar's new kid should fit nicely with this year's Goodwood theme of "young guns.

F-TYPE JAGUAR PROTOTYPE MAKES PUBLIC DEBUT AT GOODWOOD

A development prototype example of Jaguar's new sports car, the F-TYPE, is set to make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Utilising Jaguar's industry-leading knowledge of all-aluminium construction, the F-TYPE will launch as a two-seater convertible with the focus uncompromisingly on delivering driver reward.

The F-TYPE will be driven up the famous Goodwood Hill by Jaguar's Head of Vehicle Integrity, Mike Cross.

Powered by a supercharged V6 or V8 engine, the F-TYPE is currently undergoing development prior to going on sale mid-2013. Taking on the most challenging roads, extremes of temperature and the harshest environments, the F-TYPE is being thoroughly tested ahead of its launch.

Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars commented; 'Goodwood Festival of Speed is focused around the dynamic hill runs where the public can see, hear and smell the cars – this is why we have chosen it as the place to showcase an F-TYPE prototype. The development programme is progressing with vigour and we look forward to showing the world the F-TYPE in production form later this year.'

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is this year themed around 'Young Guns – Born to Win', celebrating drivers, riders, designers and engineers.

Tickets and further information for the 2012 Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival can be found on the Goodwood website (www.goodwood.com/motor sport/), or via the Ticket Hotline on +44 (0)1243 755055 or on-line via the Ticket section of the website Annual Events

Re: Jaguar’s New F-Type Sportscar Debuts in 2013

The Festival of Speed was the ideal event to showcase the F-Type to the world. Jaguar is full steam ahead with the development of the F-Type sports car, the all-aluminum roadster appearing in public for the first time with the hood down.Mike Cross, Jaguar's head of Vehicle Integrity, drove the car up the famous hill at Goodwood to rapturous applause. "The F-TYPE will deliver a driver-focused sports car experience, and camouflaged prototypes like this one are currently being tested all over the world.

"The development programme is right on schedule," says Cross, "and coming here today to showcase just a little of the dynamic precision, noise, speed and excitement that the production F-TYPE will exhibit is very satisfying. The reaction of the crowd has been fantastic - I'd like to keep running it up the hill all day!"The two-seater sports car will be powered by supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8 engines and be launched in convertible form. The full production range will be revealed later in the year.

Re: Jaguar’s New F-Type Sportscar Debuts in 2013

Jaguar has survived its tougher years and now seems to be thriving on its own with a little help from the Indians that are pumping in the capital. They could have switched from low coupes and sedans to making just crossovers for rappers but they didn’t.

At the core of the company’s philosophy stands the first completely new car in a long time, the F-Type sportscar. Ian Cullum says Jaguar is fearless about building a performance machine, a car that’s light and agile. It’s not worshiping the old E-Type and it’s making it’s own name in the game.

When Audi gives you quattro and 333 horsepower in the S5, Jaguar will offer you an aluminum chassis and up to 380 horsepower from the same three liters of displacement.

So we’re not going complain if the leather isn’t as good as Mercedes’, or if the sat-nav doesn’t work, because Jaguar will deliver on their promise.

Jaguar is making efforts to bring the upcoming F-Type sports car to the public’s attention even before this is launched and the company’s latest move sees it teaming up with American singer Lana Del Rey in order to promote the car.

Jaguar sees the F-Type and Lana Del Ray as emitting the same vibe, which is why she was chosen to be the image of the vehicle. The Jaguar F-Type is scheduled to make its debut late next month at this year’s edition the Paris Motor Show, which is when we’ll probably also get more of its connection with the singer.

We’ll be attending the event and we’ll keep you updated with live photos and info - we’ll keep an eye out for Lana and we’ll compare her voice to the F-Type’s engines.

“Everything I want I have, Money, notoriety and riviera” – these are the very first verses of Lana Del Rey’s hit single Without You. However, the star singer might have to add the coolest sportscar launched in 2012 to that list.

At a private event hosted at the Parisian Musee Rodin, the singer graced both the French capital and the brand new motor from Jaguar with her grace and presence. As the official image of the new F-Type, we have to say Jaguar couldn’t have made a better choice.

To celebrate the unveiling of this modern day successor to the iconic E-Type from 50 years ago, Lana Del Ray performed her latest tune, Burning Desire, in front of the invitation-only crowd.

As we mentioned previously today, the F-Type will go on sale next year in three power configuration, the 340 PS F-Type, 380 PS F-Type S and the F-Type V8 S with a 495 PS supercharged motor.

Jaguar prices F-Type between Porsche Boxster and 911

Jaguar is pricing its new F-Type two-seat convertible between the Boxster and 911 sports cars from rival Porsche.

The F-Type will start at 73,400 euros ($94,930) in Germany, which is more than the Porsche Boxster S two-seat convertible at 59,120 euros and the cheapest Porsche 911, which costs 88,037 euros.

The F-Type is part of a model push designed to close Jaguar's sizable sale gap with German premium rivals.

The top-of-the-range F-Type V8 S variant will be a direct rival to the 911 Carrera S. Making 495 hp from its 5.0-liter supercharged engine, the V8 S accelerates to 100kph in 4.2 seconds, according to the brand, compared to 4.4 seconds for the Porsche coupe. The Jaguar's top speed is limited to 300kph.

The entry F-Type, which is powered by a 340-hp 3.0-liter V-6 supercharged gasoline engine, will accelerate to 100kph in 5.3 seconds.

Sitting in between the two is the F-Type S, which will cost 84,900 euros and uses the same V-6 engine, which is increased to 380 hp.

The F-Type will go on sale next spring as Jaguar's fourth and smallest model.

Jaguar says the F-Type features the most advanced iteration yet of its aluminum architecture. Use of the rigid and lightweight metal extends to the front sub-frame, the double wishbone front and rear suspension and the steering rack. The core body-in-white weighs 261kg, according to the brand.

The lightest V-6 version is 1597kg. Despite the weight saving offered by the aluminum structure, the car is still heavier than the 1470kg Porsche 911 Cabriolet and the 1380kg Boxster, also a convertible.

Jaguar said it worked hard to make the F-Type fun to drive. Both S models receive a mechanical limited slip differential, with the V8 S given an electronically controlled active version that distributes torque to the wheel with the best grip.

The two S models also come with Jaguar's Adaptive Dynamics that automatically alters the damper setting on the move based on how the car is driven.

All models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission with manual operation via paddles. One innovation dubbed Corner Recognition means the gear ratio is held in the bend until straight road is reached.

The design of the car echoes Jaguars of past, with the E-Type coupe and roadster recalled in details such as the slim, horizontal mounted rear lights and also the twin central tailpipes of the V-6 versions.

The otherwise contemporary look is faithful to the styling of the C-X16 coupe concept that previewed the car at the Frankfurt auto show last year.

A production coupe version styled to match the original concept is also likely although that hasn't been confirmed by Jaguar. A hybrid version is also a strong possibility.

Jaguar takes 2000 F-type pre-orders

The Jaguar XF made its world debut at the Paris Motor Show and the vehicle hasn;t even entered the market, but this didn’t stop over 2,000 people from placing orders for the sportscar.

Jaguar’s sales target for next year is set at between 6,000 and 7,000 units, so almost a third of that has already been achieved. The majority of the orders come from Europe, but when the car goes on sale in 2013, the US is expected to be a key player in terms of sales.

The F-Type is scheduled to arrive in dealerships across America in May. Customers will be able to choose between three power levels: it all starts with a 340 hp supercharged V6 that retails for $69,000, moves up to the $81,000 380 hp V6 model and climbs to the 495 hp supercharged V8 version, which can be yours starting from $92,000.
