The latest navigation device from MapmyIndia, the Zx250, brings a whole new feature set to the table, including 3D maps of the country.
It would be interesting to see the consumer's reaction on such product.

No Sim cards, no connection. It works on the GPS signals. There are pre loaded maps installed into the device (either dedicated GPS device / mobile phones) and the signals from satellite will show your current position on the map.
