@ Holysatan Will go to the shop today evening probably , will update the rates then. No i don have the habit of rotating 5 tyres , planning to keep the stock 175/70 BS as the spare tyre and going for 185/65 Yoko A-Drive for the rest of them.

@ Ilango I will post the split up soon , they are using normal oil only.

Finally switched over to Yokohama A-drives 185/65 R14 in my Verna , the unused spare tyre remains the spare tyre! Costed me Rs.3800 per tyre including 12.5% VAT , actual MRP is only Rs.3400. Changed them at XL tyre point Shanti colony , Anna Nagar. They took around 45 minutes to change the tyres and also check out balancing and alignment. Overall i am happy with the upgrade!

Stock Bridgestone tyres lasted a good 49k KMS for me and looked good for another 2k KMS atleast but changed them since i was running without a spare tyre for close to a month after one of the tyres got affected by a puncture and was damaged beyond repair!

New Yoko's are really good , i can feel the slight improvement in comfort and ride quality , many small bumps and potholes and absorbed well by these new tyres , better than the crappy OE tyres! Will have to check out the highway handling now. But i feel after the change now the acceleration has reduced a bit(i drive only with feather touch acceleration these days) , maybe due to the increased size and also increased friction due to newer tyres.

Guys now any tips to take care for new tyres apart from rotation?

Dhaya during the initial few months, you should not drive fast & brake hard.
As the tyre gets heated up and expands.
So normal acceleration and driving is required for the new tyre.

Hmmm i will then maintain my speed within 100kmph , i travel to college daily in my car and i travel in a 6 lane highway , so i cant drive slow!

Furious acceleration and hard braking will be avoided.[cheers]

@ Love to drive Hmmm okay , will post some pictures which i took recently.

@ Ilango They fill normal oil only , oil costs Rs.199.99 per litre but they charge me 6 Litres! Then next is the big shock Fuel filter for Verna costs Rs.1300/-!!! Then another shock they have charged me separately for passenger and driver side wiper blades , i noticed this yesterday only! Rs.350 for passenger and Rs. 650 for driver side and in addition they have charged me for wheel balancing , wheel alignment , horn tuning , AC nutrilising , headlamp adjustment! No wonder my bill is 9.5k!![frustration]

I am planning to get a OE type spoiler for my ride. I know a lip spoiler suits a Verna more but i kinda like the OE type with LED brake light more! I am attaching an image of the same , i want something like this only.

Also i am getting it from Ilango for a good price. I know i can get the same spoiler in Chennai for a cheaper price(counting the fuel expenses to Pondicherry too) but i don know any place which is reliable. If its from Ilango i can be assured that it will be good quality.

@ Ilango I am attaching this image again especially for you again. I want something like this , especially the corner joints and also the height above the boot , i don't want it to be placed higher than this.

IMO OE spoiler suits the Verna more than the lip. And good that you are getting it from Ilango. The OE ones will cost a bomb, and the quality wont be anything extra ordinary.

Thanks Akash , I asked at Hyundai and they said it will cost me in the range of 7-8k plus labour charges! I am getting it for a much cheaper rate from Ilango.

Most of the OEM accessories are expensive. You can 99% of the times purchase almost same (or perhaps better) quality as aftermarket. This spoiler is looking good on the Verna. When are you going to install and for how much?

Already given the order to Ilango , final price Ilango has not yet told me actually , when i asked him longtime back he said it would cost around 5.5k good quality. I will be going to Pondicherry around 15th or 16th to get it fitted.

This spoiler is perfect. Also I feel your decision of opting only 4 tires is good. Nowadays, we seldom use fifth tire and you can rotate among 4 tires also.

Banged my car for the first time yesterday![cry]

Was going in ECR with my friends to watch a movie in Mayajaal multiplex. This happened in part of ECR where medians exist. A truck was moving at right most lane slowly i tried overtaking it from the left at around 70-80kmph , a biker moving on the left lane suddenly started to stop because a policeman was trying to stop him for not wearing a helmet. I cannot brake in time to avoid hitting the biker so tried to squezze between the biker and the truck but my rear right side of the car came in contact with the truck's front bumper!

So much has been said about the poor build quality of Hyundai so i slowed down and stopped after a few metres and got down to check it out fearing the worst damage but not bad as i expected it to be. Maybe a better built car would not have taken so much damage. Took the car and went away without creating a fuss because its a part of my mistake and mis-judgement.

Took the car to Hyundai and they said it would cost 5k tinkering and painting and 2k for new tail lamp assembly!![frustration]

Is 5k too much for tinkering and painting charges? 2k is too much for a tail lamp assembly but i have no other go , have to change it! But now my worry is would the chassis have got some damage due to the impact? I don feel any difference while driving but still i am slightly worried!

I have spent more money in my car for accidental repairs than normal maintenance! First 15k for new bumper and bonnet and now this!!
