Hey guys !

This is an unexpected trip I have to make to Kannur from Hyderabad today. Me my Dad and wife are starting off in a couple of hours and plan to reach Kannur by tomorrow morning.

Total distance is about 1000km

Route planned

Hyderabad -> Banglore -> Mysore -> Calicut -> Kannur

The Car

Hyundai Getz CRDI

Car has been recently serviced about 1000km back and new tyres (Yoko A Drives) in place. I will get my alignment done on way as couple of days ago I went over a nasty pot-hole and car seems to drag a little to the left.

Quick checklist

1. Mobile chargers - Check
2. Spare tyre - Check
3. First aid kit - check
4. Spare keys - check
5. Tubeless tire Puncture kit - check
6. Glucon D - Check [:D]
7. Camera Batteries - Check

Not sure if I missed anything else but yeh we are starting in some time and will post pictures when I get a chance tonight during my short stay at banglore.

Adios folks and happy dasera !

Thanks bro ! I had it in my mind but I have my torch app on my Xperia ;)
Anyway I am sure my dad would be carrying one.

Hey Zengetz, if you are reaching peak hours in Mysore, you can bypass it and take the ring road instead, as the Dushera is going on in mysore, its better to bypass Mysore, if you don't intend to visit palace.

Take right turn near Columbia Asia, towards GRS Fantasy park and follow the ring road all through Bandipalya , ideally you will be following Hunsur route.

Then take right from bandipalya, which leads you to Nanjangud/Gundlupet route.

Enroute you can visit HG hills too, on the way to Ooty route.

mate better avoid calicut kannur route as the nh17 is in a pretty bad shape. go from mysore- gundalpet- sulthan battery ( wayanad district ) - boys town- peravoor- iritty - kannur.

Hi Zengetz, wish you a happy and safe journey. As muhesh suggested take the by pass to avoid traffic. Am planning to do Bangalore-Calicut stretch in couple of months time. Do post your views about the road conditions after your trip. Enjoy driving.
