Re: How Do You Train Your Chauffeur?

Get one of those transporter 3 armbands with bombs(which go off when u get away from the car). Then get Mahindra to manufacture some sensors which track bad driving and trigger the armband on bad driving. Fit the arm bands to your drivers

offcourse the sensors will not work(manufactured by Mahindra cmon!!) and then the next time the driver moves away from the car kaboom!! [evil]

but seriously i am also on the boat that clearly advocates "No chaffeurs strictly" not for personal cars anyways( i dont even let them do valet parking).
No matter how hard you try they will drive badly when you are not around, offcourse not wanting to take away from the credit from 0.00000011114567889% of drivers who dont drive rashly

@Iron Rock:
I have got one of those 0.00000011114567889% chauffies in India..[clap]
How I can say this?Simple it is..
My accidents till date:more than 50(it includes scratches too).
His accidents till date:About 9-10.

You may be feeling me as bad driver..then look at these figures:-
My father's experience:About 40k kms.
His accidents till date:More than 50.(leave him with your XUV in city and at least one scratch is guaranteed)

About the payment of chauffies:-
Here in Meerut we have a very wide range of casual guys from Rs 100 to 500-600 per day.
The guy taking 100 per day will be a new boy and will give you 100 heart attacks.
The guy with 500 per day will be a 40-50 aged uncle and will give you 600 heart attacks per day. Why?Because of being impressed by his driving.

About ours:We are now paying 12k+600(bike's petrol)+500(mobile bill)+food etc etc

Re: How Do You Train Your Chauffeur?

Well we don't have the problem for the need of a Chauffer.

As all in my home drive the car.

1st driver in our home was Mom.

2nd driver Dad.

3rd Bro ,4th one myself.....

Not to forget she(Mom) was the one who taught me driving the car.

Mom's driving is restricted to city driving, she is scared of overtaking a trailer, big lorries.

But i am the one who do long drives....[evil]

I let my bro drive on Highways.

Ghat section busy roads done by me.

Re: How Do You Train Your Chauffeur?

Finding good chauffys is difficult job.My friend sent me a car to pick up when I went to meet him. The driver was fantastic & when asked about him, came to know that he worked for Police earlier, quit job to join my friend's dad job.
And for police, I don't mean those junk vans & jeeps but the escort vehicle assigned in a convoy.

I do highway drivings, long distances & reduce travel-time by atleast 10%. But prob with me is most often I remain as passenger coz not all cars/uvs are comfy for me to drive.

And whenever we require a car when I can't pick up some-one, I call Traveltime radio cab. I am senior citizen of their service [lol]. Excellent service (Wings & My-corporate-car are also good but just that I am now habituated with traveltime). Only issue is you can't get cab at 11th hour.

And it is always better to hire chauffy who has experience with SPG. Though salaries are far more, they know all security tactics in case of emergencies. Ofcourse, this is useful if you have security threat at first place.

Re: How Do You Train Your Chauffeur?

Hey guys how many people of you take care of the health and comfort of chauffy too?

Today I came across a person whose chauffy has been driving for more than last 24 hours serving him and his family without resting with just tea and biscuits as food.I felt bad for the guy, after all he is also a man.Amazingly this is not with just one person, many people do the same.
Themselves eat in a some restaurant and ask chauffy to wait for them in the car without thinking even once if the chauffy too is hungry or not.

If one wishes to hire a driver for a long trip say ~ 5-10 days what would be decent price to pay per day these days (starting from Bangalore). I know there are many in the business.

Do we have a comprehensive list of checks while dealing with a paid temporary driver like the ones below.

1. Check driving licence, Experience, References.
2. ID proof, Aadhar card?
3. Agency guarantee/responsibility - Will they give at least for the honesty if not for any incidents?
4. Prefer 30+ drivers? I read/hear & tend to agree about more experience calm & serious/mature etc

Anything else?
