Hindustan Motors expects to ready by early January, the new variant of its signature vehicle, the Ambassador, Managing Director Manoj Jha said. He also said that if customer feedback was strong, then the company was also open to looking at a hatch-back model. The show was organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Speaking at the launch, Mr. Jha said the company would be introducing several new variants in both passenger and commercial vehicle segments in the next 12-15 months starting from the first quarter of 2011.The variants launched on Friday were diesel and CNG-based. The other participants in the auto show included General Motors India, Honda Motors, Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, TVS, Mahindra and Fiat. (Source: Hindu)

Something to really look forward to. Just can't forget the sight of Amby. We used to travel a lot on them during my childhood.....

Good to know that Hindustan Motors is finally coming out from their hibernation mode. According to the ongoing rumours, Ambassador is going to get an all-new avatar and the car will be shorter than existing model, thus would benefit the less excise duty, making the price tag to reach somewhere Rs.5 Lakhs. Apart of it, they are also eyeing to grab hold of the hatchback market. Way to go HM - if you keep the things planned right. After Tata Motors and Mahindra, I'm sure that this is the real car manufacturer, which would make us proud, if succeeded.

I'm sure HM will make a mess of this new project too and will make themselves and Indians the butt of many an automotive joke for another five decades or so.

Well, there is nothing wrong in HM’s intention but unless they properly understand the market requirements, and apply the modern day marketing techniques, they will be heading nowhere. If something like this (In image) is going to be the New Amby, it sure can easily leave in a shock to many but only if they finish the homework first.

New Ambassador? Thats a oxymoron. Going by whatever HM has done in passenger car segment all these years, my belief is that HM wants to be only vintage car manufacturer in the world. They are just waiting their time for the day Ambassador gets vintage car status.
