Nissan appoints new President of India Operations

NEW DELHI, India (July 12, 2017) – Nissan has appointed Thomas Kuehl as president, Nissan India Operations, effective from October 1, 2017.

In this role Kuehl, who joins Nissan from Volkswagen, will be responsible for both Nissan and Datsun brands and will head all operations in India including Marketing and Sales, Manufacturing and Research and Development.

Nissan India is an increasingly important part of Nissan’s future growth plans,” said Peyman Kargar, chairman of Nissan’s Africa, Middle East and India region. “Thanks to his diverse and deep global auto industry experience, Thomas will help drive our business forward with a focus on delivering the best products and satisfaction for our customers, dealers and employees in India.”

Kuehl brings more than 22 years of automotive experience in different countries and different areas of value chain, as well as a deep knowledge of the Indian market gained during his time as Brand Head of Skoda Auto India and Executive Director Corporate Strategy for Volkswagen Group, India.

Commenting on his appointment, Thomas Kuehl said, “I am excited to be returning to India with Nissan. I have first-hand experience of the dynamism and great potential of India, which is on track to become one of the top three auto markets worldwide.”

Nissan is also poised for significant growth with an expanding range of great products, technologies and services across the Nissan and Datsun brands and a well-established and quality-driven national retail network, supported by local production and R&D in Chennai”, added, Thomas.

Kuehl will be based in the headquarters of Nissan India Motors Pvt. Ltd. in Gurgaon and report directly to Peyman Kargar.

Kuehl replaces Guillaume Sicard, who stepped down from the role as President, India Operations recently to take up a new post with Alliance partner Renault as Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Asia Pacific and Managing Director, South Asia.

New Delhi, August 14, 2017: Tata Motors today announced the appointment of Mr. P B Balaji as the new Chief Financial Officer, Tata Motors Group from November 2017, to drive financial performance and bring greater rigor to operations and investment decisions across the different entities.

Mr. Balaji is a global finance professional with over two decades of experience in the corporate sector. He started his career with Unilever in 1995 and worked in different corporate finance roles across Asian markets, Switzerland, UK and India. Since 2014, he has been heading the finance function as the Chief Financial Officer of Hindustan Unilever, a $6 billion enterprise. Prior to that, he was the Chief Accountant of the Unilever Group in London.

NEW DELHI, India (September 25, 2017)—Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) has announced changes to its senior management team, all effective October 1, 2017.

Arun Malhotra, currently Managing Director, NMIPL, has been appointed Corporate Advisor, NMIPL. In this new role Malhotra will leverage his extensive expertise and deep experience in the Indian automotive sector to support the delivery of Nissan India’s future growth goals and network development plans. He will report to Peyman Kargar, Chairman of Nissan’s Africa, Middle East and India (AMI) region and interim president of Nissan India Operations, and to Thomas Kuehl, incoming President of Nissan India Operations (effective October 1, 2017).

Jerome Saigot, currently Vice President, Marketing and Datsun Business Unit, NMIPL, will now be responsible for Sales and Marketing, NMIPL, for both Nissan and Datsun brands. Saigot will report to Thomas Kuehl, incoming President, Nissan India Operations, and will continue to be based at NMIPL’s office in Gurgaon.

Peter Clissold, currently General Manager, Marketing, AMI, will take up the role of Vice President, Marketing, NMIPL, with responsibility for both the Nissan and Datsun brands in India. Clissold will be based at NMIPL’s office in Gurgaon, and will report to Jerome Saigot.

Commenting on these management changes, Peyman Kargar said, “Nissan has invested substantially in our manufacturing and R&D facilities, and in our dealer network, in India. We expect these appointments will bring the right balance of experience and new thinking to accelerate our momentum as we strive to achieve our ambitions for the Indian market.”

New Delhi, October 26, 2017: The Renault-Nissan Alliance announced the appointment of Jayakumar David as Alliance HR Director, India, effective 1st November 2017. David currently serves as Vice-President HR RNTBCI (Renault Nissan Technology and Business Centre India) and will continue with this role as well.

In his new role, David will be responsible for all the Alliance HR operations in India, ensuring optimum effectiveness, while driving efficiencies of HR delivery to strengthen the Renault-Nissan synergies in India.

Announcing the new appointment, Dominique Dumoulin, Alliance Global Director HR, Africa-Middle East-India (AMI) Region said, “We are pleased to welcome Jayakumar David in his new role and extend our full support to him in successfully executing his mandate, as we aspire to strengthen the Renault-Nissan Alliance in India. He will also report to Krishnan Sundararajan, Managing Director RNTBCI for specific entity related activities.

A post-graduate in Human Resources Management from Madras University, David comes with rich experience in Human Resources spanning over 24 years. He has worked with organizations like Kennametal India Pvt. Ltd., Siemens Technology and Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Hindustan Coca-Cola beverages Pvt Ltd. and joined RNTBCI in September 2016.

: As a part of its management restructuring in India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. (TKM) today announced the repatriation of Mr. Akito Tachibana, present Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar Motor and proposed appointment of Mr. Masakazu Yoshimura as Managing Director. The formal appointment of the new Managing Director will be made at the meeting of Board of Directors scheduled on 22nd January 2019.

Mr. Masakazu Yoshimura will be responsible for broad leadership and strategic direction of Toyota’s business operations in India. (December 6, 2018) – Biju Balendran has been appointed the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Renault Nissan Automotive India (RNAIPL) and Sambath Kumar has been appointed as the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) for Nissan India Operations.

In their new roles, Biju will be responsible for all the manufacturing operations of the Renault-Nissan Alliance factory at Oragadam, Chennai; Sambath will lead finance for Nissan India Operations (Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. and Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt. Ltd.).

Commenting on their appointments, Thomas Kuehl, President - Nissan India Operations, said “As a part of the Nissan India Strategy, we aim to substantially increase plant utilization enabling greater efficiency and build capacity to develop products which meet the expectations of Indian customers. Under the leadership of Biju, the manufacturing plant will serve as a key contributor to the growth of Nissan in India. I also want to take the opportunity to thank Colin MacDonald, outgoing MD & CEO, RNAIPL, for his contribution and leadership during the last 5 years to make RNAIPL facility amongst the best in our organization.”

Biju brings more than two decades of experience in automobile manufacturing in India and international markets. He was the first employee to join RNAIPL in 2008 and over the years has worked in various functions, including the Head of Stamping at the Nissan South Africa (NSA) Plant in Pretoria. Based in Chennai, Biju will report to Thomas Kuehl, President – Nissan India Operations in India, and functionally to Sakamoto Masahiro, RVP Monozukuri, AMI, Nissan and Pascal Felten, RSVP Alliance, Africa Middle East and India (AMI) Monozukuri.
After successful completion of his tenure at RNAIPL, Colin MacDonald will move on to a new role based in Europe.

Sambath is an industry veteran with over two decades of experience and has played key roles in finance, internal controlling, audit and strategic planning. He joined the Nissan family in 2009 and in this new position will be based in Chennai and report to Thomas Kuehl, President – Nissan India Operations and Jay Cook, RVP Finance and GA, AMI Nissan.

RNAIPL (Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Limited) is the first dedicated Alliance global plant representing an investment of INR 61 billion in Chennai. Sinan Özkök, 49, would be taking this role and it is no secret that he is going to have a huge responsibility riding on his shoulders. Based at Nissan Motor India Private Ltd. in Gurgaon, will have responsibility for all functions in India including Sales and Marketing, Research and Development and Manufacturing, for both Nissan and Datsun brands.

Royal Enfield’s former President joins BMW India as CEO

Rudratej Singh has been appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of BMW Group India. His appointment comes following his departure from Royal Enfield earlier in 2019.

Back in January 2019, he retired from Royal Enfield with immediate effect. At the time he served as Global President of the company and had been at Royal Enfield for four years, since January 2015.
