Albert biermann of BMW has been hired by Hyundai as Executive VP for high performance vehicle research and development. He was earlier the chief engineer of BMW's M performance cars. He was with BMW for over 30 years.

Kamal Basu appointed Marketing & PR Head at VW.

Volkswagen India has made an announcement that Kamal Basu has been appointed as the Head of Marketing and Public Relations at Volkswagen Passenger Cars in India.

Mr. Basu, who joined Skoda Auto India as Marketing Head in 2012, oversaw product marketing, lead management, communication and media, and also worked closely with sales, after-sales and dealer network teams. In addition to his work in automobile marketing, Mr. Basu has a very strong background in advertising, having spent close to two decades working with top-level agencies like RK Swamy BBDO, Rediffusion Y&R and with Saatchi & Saatchi as CEO.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said, “We are pleased to welcome Kamal on board here at Volkswagen India. Kamal is a seasoned marketing professional and I’m sure he will be a strong and valuable addition to our team. Kamal will play a key role in further developing the strengths of the Volkswagen brand in India.”

K Inoue to head Honda Cars India operations; to succeed Hironori Kanayama.

Inoue has earlier been with the company's subsidiary in Germany. He started his career with the company's motorcycle division in 1986 and held various positions in Japan, Malaysia and Thailand before joining operations in Europe in 2009. Initially, he worked as General Manager for Honda Motor Europe in the UK and later as President of Honda Poland.

Honda Motor is expected to announce the India unit management changes soon and they are likely to be effective immediately.

Tata Motors top executive resigns!

Ranjit Yadav, the ex-Samsung honcho hired by Tata Motors in 2012 to turn around its ailing car business, is understood to have put in his papers within three years of his joining.

Yadav, who had been appointed as the president of the car division in September 2012, was recently side-lined as the company brought in Maruti Suzuki veteran Mayank Pareek to head the domestic unit.

Renault Nissan appoints new Managing Director in India.

Renault-Nissan India has promoted its current Deputy Managing Director Colin Macdonald as its new Managing Director. He has replaced Toshihiko Sano, the current Managing Director, and will take in-charge of his new responsibility from April 1. Sano, on the other hand, has been appointed as the new Senior Vice President of Calsonic Kansei, which happens to be one of the major component suppliers to Nissan in Japan.

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) today announced the appointment of Katsushi Inoue as its new President & CEO w.e.f. April 1, 2015. As part of the other management changes, Hiroyuki Shimizu will be the new Vice President & Director, Marketing & Sales in HCIL.

Katsushi Inoue takes over from Hironori Kanayama who has served as HCIL President & CEO for the past 3 years since assuming this position in April 2012. Inoue has been associated with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. for over 29 years and has served as General Manager in Marketing Planning office in Japan headquarters in his last assignment.

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, today announced that Mr. Katsushi Inoue has been appointed as the new President & CEO of HCIL w.e.f. April 1, 2015. As part of the other management changes, Mr. Hiroyuki Shimizu will be the new Sr. Vice President & Director, Marketing & Sales in HCIL.

Mr. Yoshiyuki Matsumoto, Managing Officer, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. who was the Representative of Development, Purchasing and Production in Asia & Oceania since April 2013 and was stationed in India, moves to Japan after completing his tenure. He will take over as the Chief Operating Officer of the Automobile Operation at Honda Motor Co., Ltd. He is planned to be elevated to the position of Director on the Board of Directors in Honda Motor Co., Ltd. with the title of Sr. Managing Officer and Director after approval at the General Meeting of Shareholders of the company scheduled to be held in June 2015.


Mr. Katsushi Inoue takes over from Mr. Hironori Kanayama who has served as HCIL President & CEO for the past 3 years since assuming this position in April 2012. Mr Inoue has been associated with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. for over 29 years and has served as General Manager in Marketing Planning office in Japan headquarters in his last assignment. He has vast experience in the automobile industry, having worked with Honda ventures in different markets, across the globe including Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, UK, Poland and Germany.

Mr. Hiroyuki Shimizu takes over from the current Sr. Vice President & Director, Marketing & Sales - Mr. Shigeru Yamazaki, who was at this position since April 2012. Mr Shimizu has been associated with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. for over 25 years and in his last assignment, he served as Director and Vice President in Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. Mr. Shimizu started his professional career with the company in the year 1990 and has significant experience in the field of Product Planning, Marketing and Sales. Mr Shigeru Yamazaki goes to Japan and will be responsible for Automobile Operations Business Planning in Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

Mr. Hironori Kanayama moves back to Japan as he retires after successfully completing his career in Honda. During the three years of Mr. Kanayama’s leadership in India, HCIL witnessed rapid growth in its business. It was in his tenure that Honda forayed into the diesel segment in India with the launch of its revolutionary 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine and entered into many new segments in the market leading to increase in HCIL operating field from 10% in 2012 to the current 51%. Many successful products like Honda Amaze, Honda Mobilio and 4th Generation Honda City were launched in the Indian market during this period.

The Indian wing of Isuzu Motor Japan Limited, Isuzu Motors India (IMI), has undergone key management changes w.e,f April 01, 2015. Mr. Naohiro Yamaguchi, General Manager, LCV Sales Project Dept. at Isuzu Japan, will take over as Managing Director of Isuzu Motors India (IMI) and will be responsible for the overall operations of the company. Mr. Hiroyasu Miura, Executive Officer and Executive in-charge of Manufacturing Engineering Planning Dept, Vehicle Manufacturing and New Business Development at Isuzu Japan, joins as the Chairman at Isuzu Motors India and will be responsible for product engineering & development. Mr. Taizo Nakahigashi, Senior Vice President at Isuzu Motors India will take over as the Chief Executive Officer at Isuzu Hicom Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. The changes in the management is as per the business plans of the company.

Mr. Takashi Kikuchi will take-over as President of Isuzu Motors Co., Thailand and also assume the role of ‘Senior Executive Officer’ at Isuzu, Japan. He will continue as the part-time board member at Isuzu Motors India.

Nissan India has appointed Satinder Singh Bajwa as Vice President sales, network and customer relations effective April 13, 2015. He'll report to Arun Malhotra.

  • Satinder has 20-year experience in functions like sales, marketing, dealer management and key account management in auto industry.

  • He'll be responsible for accelerating sales, expanding the reach and ensuring customer satisfaction for Nissan and Datsun in India.

  • Prior to joining Nissan, he has worked with Hyundai India Ltd as Group Head – Sales. In the past he had also worked with Maruti Suzuki, Piaggio and Bajaj.

Nissan today announced the appointment of Mr. Sandip Neogi as their Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Neogi will report to Guillaume Sicard, President Nissan India Operations and will be based in Chennai.

Current president and managing director Mahesh Kodumudi set to move to Volkswagen Group of America with effect from June 1, 2015. Dr Andreas Lauermann will be appointed as president and MD of VW India with effect from July 1, 2015.
