After doing many less than 500 kms trips the past year, it was time to go long. Unlike last year where we couldn’t explore much, we decided to fix on a single place and spend a full day to explore it. After going through a lot of places, checking out various forums, we decided Hampi it would be.

Bikes
Myself on Ryuk (2016 Duke 390)
Ayyappan on Assasino (2016 RC 390)
Velarasan on Aslan (2017 Dominar 400)
Rakesh on Kreiger (2018 G 310 GS)
Bala on Nanook (2017 RE Himalayan borrowed from our friend Jay as he couldn’t make this trip)
Arun on Mystique ( 2015 P220)

Plan
Our plan was to ride to Hampi on 30th, explore the ruins on 31st, return back on 1st. A simple itinerary. We booked 2 OYO rooms at Hosepete which was 20 kms away from Hampi.

Day 1: Coimbatore to Hampi
As usual, myself and Bala stayed overnight at Ayyappan’s home. Having prepared our bikes the previous day we were ready to leave early. We met at Hopes BP petrol bunk and filled our bikes. Everyone except for Arun who would join us at Kaniyur Toll arrived by 6. We clicked some mandatory photos and left. Ayyappan was leading the group while Vel was tailing. They are the most experienced riders of our group. We rode no stop for 200 kms, till our bikes needed petrol. We refilled somewhere after Salem and then proceeded.

We stopped at Shoolagiri to have our Breakfast. We then reached Banglore around 10 AM, and entered the NICE Ring Road. We took the Pune Highway. After clicking some photos, we proceeded. We planned to stop only for Petrol break next.

Google maps showed us a detour and we rode through poor roads and reached Hospete at around 5 PM. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious. We then rode to Hampi to have dinner. We went to Mango Tree. The Ambience was great while the food was above average. We returned to our rooms and had a good night’s sleep.

Day 2: Hampi
We woke up, had our complimentary breakfast and went to Sanapur Lake. We spent most of our time in Lake and then went to waterfalls. We tried to avoid the usual tourists place as it was too crowded for the new year. We also had our Lunch at Laughing Buddha. We had to wait 30 mins to get a table and food was served super late. But the food was good but too pricey for our liking. We then returned back to our room. Went out to a small veg restaurant nearby. The food was great and was cheap too. We stayed up till new year, wished everyone and slept.

Day 3 : Hampi to Coimbatore
We woke up at 5.30 AM, got ready by 6 and left. We had completed our check out formalities the previous day itself. We were greeted by an amazing sunrise. It was very cold. With nothing much happening and an usual highway ride, we rode back. Arun parted ways with us at Bengaluru as he had some work in Mysuru. By the time we reached Bengaluru, Assasino’s tyres were a toast. We rode carefully back to home and reached home at around 7 PM.
