No detail but I am sure about compulsory insurance for every vehicles ( two wheeler, three wheeler, four wheeler and multi wheeler ). If caught any vehicle without insurance, will be fined. Waiting for more details to come. If any TAI members have details, please comment.

There is finally something happening on the road safety front. The government of India plans to introduce the new Motor Vehicles Bill in the upcoming monsoon session of the parliament. This news was confirmed by Nitin Gadkari, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister.

This new Motor Vehicles Bill will cover an array of road safety issues like using technology to issue driver's licenses and vehicle registration certificates so that there is no duplication. This will also come down heavily on traffic offenders by implementing heavy fines. A biker caught riding without an insurance policy will attract a penalty of Rs 10,000 whereas light motor vehicles and autorickshaws will have to cough up Rs 25,000, as per the new rules. Similarly, any car or a truck driver caught driving without the policy will have to pay as high as Rs 75,000.

While we really appreciate the government’s effort to make roads safer, they first need to sort of a way to reduce the corruption among the police officials. The level of harassment to the car and bike owners is bound to increase once the hefty fines are implemented.

Most of bills passed are paying bills of related officials and doing any good for the public.[frustration] Hope this bill will be helpful to public.
