Ford Ikon 1.6 Performance Modifications

I have a Ford ikon 1.6 nxt.

Wanted to modify my engine for more power.

Know the general stuff like - Filters & Free flow exhausts i know.

Need to know what else do i need to do & rough costs of each.

My budget would be around 1lakh.

RSM - Its just 91 bhp & a drivers car(has good steering feed back).I am looking for more horses.(bhp)

I think one good investment is a decent Recaro Seat with a 5 point harness.
If you find a good one, then give me too the details!!

Dont , i think Ilango is there for your rescue. BTW you havent poted the ownership report of your baby have you?

In my price list sparco is mentioned so had a doubt.

Mods eh!!
To start with, get an FFE. not aftermarket, but the customized one. Head to automech.
Full calcualted Headers.
4-2-1
& muffler.
Next, u can shave off the head to increase compression. add to it increased heat range plugs, and ur ready. Lightening the flywheel is another option, but will kill low down torque. Similarly high-lift cams will make life miserable in city.
For a budget of 1lakh, If u ask me, i'll say TURBO.
Go ahead and fix one. U'll need.
1. turbo
2. intercooler
3. plumbing
4. sensors
5. blow off valve
6. external waste gate
7. plumbing
8. gauges
9. piggy back ecm/ stand alone ecm
10. as well as fuel regulators and pumps
All these will come to near a lakh. even less if u can source a used turbo in good condition. Stock internals will handle around 7-9psi. any more and u need forged.
With this trim in good shape, expect around 120+bhp with lots of mid range.

Well, it is. But the reliablity factor and engine life goes down a bit. Reliablity is good if done correctly, but life certainly decreases.

Cheap & Fast = Not Reliable
Cheap & Reliable = Not Fast
Fast & Reliable = Not Cheap

@ Racerdabba - The rocam 1.6 isn't TURBO friendly. The bonnet is all occupied.
2,3 of them have already failed ,turbo thing doesn't work well.

Moreover getting all new parts & a reliable job done costs 1.5 lakh upward.Above my budget.
People have paid upto 4 lakhs for a reliable turbo job.

Read about your Maruti turbo too, why not put up a post here ?
