Re: Fiat Panda coming to India Mid-2012

Well! by the looks of it, it doesn't look bad at all, sure it is a tall boy design (which is not a drawback at all), but what about the fact that fiat is parting ways with TATA? Agreed, that this TATA FIAT joint effort did not fetch the latter the anticipated sales figures, but feels like FIAT India too has been too sluggish in infrastructure investments, as not much work was done when it came to setting up exclusive dealerships at key locations. Also new products need to be inducted to keep pace with other players in the market.

Its high time now that the slumber is broken and loose ends be tied at the earliest if at all FIAT wants to capitalize on Indian buyers potential. Today the buyer is a lot better informed, wise and judgmental than a couple of decades back, so wake up FIAT you have the technology focus on the market and plan the strategies accordingly, will be interesting to see what the future holds.

Best Wishes!!!

Loved the interiors, looks very stylish, spacious & contemporary.

Exteriors are radical, not very stylish, MAY look good in flesh.

The Fiat Panda definetly looks well proportioned and styled compared to WagonR. If fiat can use the multijet 1.0 Ltr which they are currently developing in this car and price it competitively ,We can see fiat back in business in no time.Lets hope fiat makes all the moves in the right direction this time. All the best FIAT.

Fiat India won’t launch any new car model till 2013-14, says CEO

New Delhi: Yet to make a meaningful mark in the domestic car market, the Italian subsidiary firm Fiat India is looking to refresh its current product portfolio and weave a new brand strategy to spruce up numbers.
As part of the strategy, the company would not introduce any new car model till 2013-14, but look at consolidating its current range. This would mean that the company's much hyped small car would not hit the roads next year as it was widely believed.

In January 2010 the company had said that it was working on a small car – positioned below the Punto and Palio – and was expected to hit the markets by 2012. The proposed small car was expected to increase Fiat's sales numbers in the country. At present the company only has three models in its portfolio – Punto, Linea and Palio Stile.

Why not , fiat is already doing horrible sales in India .Day by day there is drastic sales drop. Panda is looking like Wagan R.

Panda looks like a mix of Micra and Wagon-R , looking okay for me. Interiors look really good though! But sad to see the news we wont be seeing this car any soon!

Fiat has imported the Panda 4×4 in India for R&D. It comes with the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel and full-time all-wheel drive system.

Fiat is planning to expand its product portfolio in India since a long time but due to the recent change in the top management and fluctuating excise duty, new car launches are getting delayed. The Italian carmaker was supposed to launch the Jeep and Abarth brands last year. Also, new cars such as Fiat 500L and Panda were on the cards. Just a few days back we saw Fiat importing the 500L MPV and now we see the Panda hatchback being imported for testing in India. This tells us that the launch of these new cars is not far away and we have something interesting to look for in the Fiat India portfolio.
The particular unit of the Fiat Panda imported is a 4×4 version featuring the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine that produces 74 BHP of power and 190 Nm of torque. It is surprising that they are considering a 4×4 version for our country but looking at the new trend of pseudo crossovers in India, this might be a clever move by Fiat. What makes the 4×4 version different from the regular Panda is plastic body cladding and bigger 15-inch wheels. It has a full-time all-wheel drive system with two differential locks for serious off-roading.
The Fiat Panda has a weird styling or shall we say the ‘love it or hate it’ design with some quirky bits. It has a tall boy stance with muscular wheel arches and rugged looking body cladding. The Abarth inspired alloys look gorgeous while the rear appears boxy. Fiat offers great attention to detail on the inside and the Panda gets a very unique theme of interior styling. The steering wheel, instrument cluster, center console, gear knob, etc. are squarish in shape. If launched, Fiat is likely to position the Panda 4×4 above the Avventura to compete with the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, etc.

for me it looks similar to SKODA YETI, however the storage space might be less compared to yeti. however the stance and the side profile. and the 4wd definitely is something that will impress the buyer. however having said that FIAT is failed to get a strong base in india as it has been going out and coming in, in india. this has made people loose faith in this brand. otherwise FIAT is a wonderfully engineered product.
