@AHI- You have studied the car very closely. Very accurate observation.
@Zinam- Boldness is the feature common with almost every FIAT car especially the ones in the current market.

@Akash: Thanks Akash.

Some more observation:

1. Both the pics are photoshoped.checkout the Headlamps,Front grill space between the headlamps, the missing side signal lights and the Rearlights/spoiler stoplamp.

2.Rear bumpers are equipped with parking sensors.

3.The body contour lines running from the rear light panels over the fuel filler cap through the door openers ending over the front wheels on both sides AND the gap between the hatch door and the rear door AND the rear door design look similar to HYUNDAI GETZ.

Cant comment about the 1st pic, but the 2nd one is definitely a PS one. A close look at Taillamps reveals this.
So is the news of facelifted Palio true?

New FIAT PALIO

Italian auto manufacturer Fiat has decided to give its oldest surviving model, the Palio, a facelift and a major marketing push, thereby ruling out any phasing out of the model although it has been in production for over eight years. The company will launch a refreshed Palio in the next three to four months with a competitive price tag, according to an executive from Fiat India Automobiles. The existing Palio (base model) is sold at Rs 3.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

In addition, the petrol engines 1.1 litre, 57 bhp and the 1.6 litre, 100 bhp seen in the existing Palio may either get upgraded to suit Bharat Stage IV (BS-IV) emission norms or may get replaced by engines that power another Fiat model, Grande Punto.

The Punto is driven by a 1.2 litre (FIRE) engine that develops 68 bhp of maximum power, as well as a 1.4 litre (FIRE) engine that generates 90 bhp of peak power. The 1.3 litre multijet diesel engine seen in the Palio is already BS-IV compliant and does not require upgradations.

Eleven cities in India will change to BS-IV norms from April 2010 as part of global emission control action aimed at containing harmful gases released by automobiles.

Although the Palio has become an old model now, it continues to serve our strategic purpose of being the entry level model in our range, while complementing the Punto. It was, hence, essential to infuse some refreshments to the model to keep it under production, said a senior executive from the company.

Though the company preferred to maintain secrecy about the product until its launch, sources say the new Palio may get a new grille and a new dashboard assembly, much on the lines of the recently launched and facelifted Brazilian Palio.

Fiat India will thus generate a major marketing push to reignite the demand for the Palio, which has considerably slowed due to fierce competition. Despite the price of the current Palio, considered aggressive, it fails to pull customers looking for other hatchbacks such as Hyundai i10, Maruti Suzuki A-Star and Chevrolet Spark, in a similar price band.

Sales of the current Palio are pegged at 250-300 units a month. In contrast, the Hyundai i10 clocks more than 5,000 units a month, according to industry officials. Auto experts say a facelift by the company was expected. A complete phase-out of the Palio will result in a huge void in Fiat’s model line-up in India, which will be difficult to afford, said an expert.

The existing version of the Palio was launched by the company in April 2007, with an additional and highly efficient diesel engine. The four-seater hatchback was first launched in September 2001. Though initial sales were encouraging, it lost in succeeding years to intense competition, Fiat’s infamous service back-up and also due to car’s fuel guzzling nature.

Meanwhile, Fiat India is considering an upward revision of prices for the Punto and Linea after the end of the current quarter. The increase will be made to even out the rise seen in international metal prices and the impact of the euro, which has become costlier for its suppliers.

@AHI- Palio is looking good in those pics. Rear is looking grt with spoiler(the blue one). The refreshed look will surely help FIAT in selling this hatch in good numbers again.

Yes they are looking good indeed.I will post my observation soon on the pics I posted.

If FIAT's A.S.S remains as it is and become better then it will be a headache for other hatches, but the final issue is pricing, hope FIAT take lessons from TATA in it, as they have done it good with MANZA.

Dash is looking good, but could have been with the use of some other colour. Instrument cluster is the area which is quite eyecatching. I think the DIN Music system and the airbags will be offered with the top end version. Overall a great comeback of Palio.

My Observation:-

From "View from left front-end corner":

The side have similarities with the present Palio.Side signal lamp is missing.Wheel size is same(as it looks). The rendezvous point of side fender region and front headlamp corner looks loke SKODA LAURA ,even the curve on the bonnet have the similar design as Laura.Front grill have a Punto fill.

From "View from front end":
Lots of upclass touch is given in this region.Twin-pod headlamps(Palio signature) with projector and reflector,Foglamps on look-alike(or may be real) airdams, the touch of black on the lower grill and airdams and Chrome plating over the grill border and foglamps are some of them.Single windshield washer opening on the bonnet might spray water all over it.And a 1.4L badge shows the powerhouse. The front RVM inside the cabin have day-night option(check the small groove at the bottom end of the RVM).The designs of the headlamps are reversed from the present version. Can see a middle headrest on the rear seat.

From "Rear right-end corner view" and "Rear Left-end corner View":
The rear light design are the concise version of Honda Civic ones in shape. There is not much changes observed other than the new light design and related design of the boot door to accomodate it.If you look at the back at a glance it will look like the Type-1 Maruti Zen.The blackened middle door panels in the B-pillar is a good touch.A small cut is found in the bumper for endcan.

From "Dashboard View":
The major drawback is the missing steering mounted controls. The dash looks a bit dated with the colour combination and design(looks like old getz). The display on the instrument panel have info for which radio chanel is playing,time,etc.. a good touch but hope all Driver Informations are also available there. The flat top of the gear-lever is not a good touch, a ball shaped top provide better grip touching all parts of the palm.Lots of cubbyholes for storage(4 we can view here).

From "Seat View":
The bucket seats are looking very sporty.Red Belts are looking sporty too.The small storage place with flap (may be for sunglasses)in the place of the roof-handle above the front passenger window is good but the handle is more important there. The utility hook on the side of the seat is good but cant say for what purpose.

Overally a good new version and facelift, hope it is well priced with other good features which cant be viewed now.

I am pretty sure that it wont have a MID. The display may be redesigned to clock which is normally done for indian cars.
